Synopsis: Val Harris owns her own pie shop called Pie Town that is cozy and has a vintage setup. Pie Town is a small business that attracts locals and tourists. One day after losing a bet with a regular customer she gives the customer(Joe) a quiche as the reward for losing the bet. After Joe takes a bite of the quiche, he suddenly dies. Local police suspect foul play and Val’s business is the one to pay for the crime. Pie crust maker Charlene makes a wager with Val and they decide to investigate the suspicious death. Charlene is in her 70’s, a conspiracy theorist, wears a supposed narcoleptic and deaf cat around her neck and has the mindset of a teenager. Val is still battling from her new breakup with her ex fiance and has devoted all of her time in Pie Town. Together Val and Charlene start investigating Joe’s murder and so much adventure awaits. Review: I give The Quiche and the Dead 5 out of 5 awesome stars! This was the perfect cozy for me. This book was full of adventure, humor, mystery and friendship. I loved both of the main heroines in this story. I really enjoyed Charlene’s character, she was a hoot! Charlene is what I want to be when I grow old! She reminded me of Grandma Mazur from the Stephanie Plum series but she had her own special wildness to her. This book made me laugh, smile and was just what the doctor ordered to lighten my mood. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good cozy mystery, you won’t be disappointed!

  1. Great review! I actually love the friendship trope – and kooky old women in books. They give no fucks and it’s hilarious; I agree with you, that’s the goal when you’re old 😀 This book sounds like a lot of fun!x

  4. Glad you enjoyed this one Dani! I just knew you’d have to love Charlene she was just awesome. 🙂 One of those that the characters just pop out and grab you and who cares if they ever solve a murder or not, it’s just fun to hang with them. 🙂
