☆📚~A Magickal Book-Blog Featuring A Free-Spirited & Custom Made Bibliophile ~🔮
I want to thank NetGalley and Crown Publishing for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review. I appreciate this opportunity.
I also want to give a shout out to Trang from Bookidote! Trang and I buddy read this book starting at the halfway mark. 😂 She offered great insight! Trang is an awesome blogger and new friend! She is so sweet and funny! Check her blog out and show her some love!😉❤🤗 A little update: So Trang and I fangirled it out after she finished an hour after me! She also loved this book!😎 We both said from the get go we were hoping for lots of twists and turns! Well, Krysten Ritter definitely delivered! We named over 5 things we were shocked about in this book! I loved fangirling with her! Trang, you rock!!!
Synopsis: Abby Williams is a lawyer who works with chemicals and the environment based in Chicago. Different days of the week she has different men in her bed but she feels all alone. She tries to drink away her pain often and numb her feelings out. The only person she feels she can lean on is her colleague Joe.
Abby battles her demons and has faced obsessive thoughts from her past. Ten years ago as a graduating senior Abby was bullied furiously by the “it” crowd whose main star was Abby’s childhood friend, Kaycee Mitchell. When Kaycee mysteriously goes missing after claiming she was sick by the local plastic plant this has a lasting effect on Abby. Even though she hated Kaycee and her crowd in high school she felt there was something she could not shake.
Abby constantly keeps bringing herself back to the past and trying to put the pieces together. Abby finally stumbles across a complaint made by someone about the plant and Abby and her team head to her home town the Barrens. She heads to the Barrens to seek justice and ends up facing more than she could think possible.
Abby has to face; corruption, her abusive father, old high school bullies and new horrors in her home town. She runs into everyone from her childhood in this small town. Will Abby bring justice and be able to fight her personal demons?
Review: Omg! I loved this book! Not only is written by the awesome and sexy Krysten Ritter, it was fantastic. I give this crime thriller 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. I felt like I could feel all of Abby’s emotions and a lot of the traumas that happened in this book I could relate to. At moments it was hard for me to turn the page because of the intensity, but it kept me pulling me back in. I really enjoyed this book and was satisfied I requested it through NetGalley. My only issue, which really wasn’t an issue was the very end I didn’t know if they were leaving it open or that’s how she wanted to finish things. This book showed the reality of how bullying effects people and the horror. This was a terrific crime thriller. I highly recommend this book!
Sounds like a great read. Thanks for sharing this review. 😊

This is already on the top of my tbr, and now I really need to get my hands on it! Sadly I got turned down on NetGalley, so I have to go see if my library has ordered it yet. It’s funny, the way you describe Abby at the beginning, sounds a little like Jessica Jones, well, without the superpowers of course. This sounds sooo good Dani! Absolutely phenomenal review! I.have to pop right over to Overdive to see if anyone has it yet.😙

I think you really will enjoy it Kim!!! When Trang and I were buddy reading we said we hope she throws us lots of twists and turns. Oh and she definitely delivered! I was really shocked about a lot of it. It can be a bit intense at times though and you’re right Abby favors Jessica Jones in a lot of ways!!! NetGalley seems to be so random sometimes about who is approved and who’s not sometimes.🤔 I hope the library comes out with it soon. They should with its popularity at some point! I really want to read The Wife Between Us Kim because of you and Carrie’s awesome reviews! You are the best Kim!!!!

I looked on NetGalley again last night and it’s up for request again so I said what the heck, and tried again. I’ve been approved for Crown Books before so who knows.
Have you requested The Wife Between Us on NetGalley Dani? It’s available for request.😊🌈💖

Shit it hit send before I was finished writing! 😑 Hopefully you get approved this time. I’m sure you will lady! I know it can be random but you have way better stats than me! You are a rock star! 🌟 I just asked Carrie’s opinion of I should read Disturbed or The Wife Between Us. They both seem good but Disturbed is past publication but I’m kind of in a slump! Lol. So don’t know what I want. I need to get up the energy to catch up on my reviews!😕

I haven’t gotten to Disturbed yet, but I’ve read a few of her previous books and they were fast reads. And I guarantee that once you start reading The Wife Between Us you’re not going to be able to stop. I’ll bet either one of these will break your slump!😊😙

Krysten Ritter was so awesome as Jessica Jones. Cool that she is now also writing novels. The subject for this novel (bullying) hits a little bit close to home, but this does sound like a great read. Well you know what that means: adding it to my to read list again, great review! 😀

I loved her as well on Jessica Jones! My girl crush but this review wasn’t based on my girl crush, it really was awesome! Some of it was really intense I’ll admit though. I had to update my review because my brain keeps farting and such and I leave stuff out. Shit happens.. thanks so much for you amazing support!!!

Haha…that definitely is the expression of the week for me: brain farting lol. But you are right no worries about that.
I hope to read this book at some point that’s for sure. I can’t wait for Jessica Jones season 2. But we unfortunately still have to wait a while for that.
