Sometimes the skeletons in the closet are real.
Greenville, South Carolina, 1972.
Penelope Drake knows the ghosts and demons lurking in her hometown aren’t just figurative. After all, her father’s spirit haunts the office of the detective agency she inherited from him.
When Ephraim Brown, an old friend of her father, asks Penelope to investigate a break-in at his home, she’s hesitant. Breaking and entering is normally something she’d leave for the police, but with no other prospects in sight, she reluctantly agrees. The simple burglary, however, turns out to be just the beginning, as the brutal supernatural attack that follows makes it clear someone is using dark magic to try to destroy Ephraim Brown and his family.
It’s up to Penelope, along with her cagey assistant Zed and her friend Charles—who happens to know a bit of magic himself—to bring this scheme of revenge and murder to a halt before it’s too late. Because if they don’t, Penelope gets the distinct feeling the Brown family won’t be the hidden foe’s last target.
As the Jack-of-All-Wicked-Trades for a secretive French military intelligence agency, Kingsley Boissonneault has done it all—spied, lied, and killed under orders. But his latest assignment is quite out of the ordinary. His commanding officer’s nephew has disappeared inside a sex cult, and Kingsley has been tasked with bringing him home to safety.
The cult’s holy book is Story of O, the infamous French novel of extreme sado-masochism. Their château is a looking-glass world where women reign and men are their willing slaves. Or are they willing? It’s Kingsley’s mission to find out.
Once inside the château, however, Kingsley quickly falls under the erotic spell cast by the enigmatic Madame, a woman of wisdom, power, and beauty. She offers Kingsley the one thing he’s always wanted. But the price? Giving up forever the only person he’s ever loved.
Wowza! What a Steamy One!
A young London socialite is brutally murdered by a notorious serial killer in this “compelling” page-turner of dark secrets and deadly investigations (NYTbestselling author Jeffrey Deaver).
Her eyes are wide open. Her lips parted as if to speak. Her dead body frozen in the ice . . . she is not the only one.
When a young boy discovers the body of a woman beneath a thick sheet of ice in a South London park’s pond, Detective Erika Foster is called in to lead the murder investigation. The victim appeared to have the perfect life — what dark secrets is the girl in the ice hiding?
When Erika begins to dig deeper, she starts to connect the dots between the murder and the killings of three prostitutes. All were found strangled, hands bound and dumped in water around London. As she inches closer to uncovering the truth, the killer is closing in. With her failing career hanging by a thread, Erika must now battle her own personal demons as well as a killer more deadly than any she’s faced before. But will she get to him before he strikes again?

Lmao! I understand Jaquie! It was quite a wild one and I was in a funk so it helped at that time but usually don’t give them the time of day.

I loved this post! I really like the images that point out what the genres of the books are! All of the books seems great, (lol even the steamy one😅😅) But have to say that my favorite one out of these is Dreadful Penny. I always love novels that have a bit of supernatural angle in them! It’s so great to see you back at blogging again! Wonderful post Dani! 😘❤️❤️

You are right about that name! What a corker. It has gone straight into my notebook.
And the book gave you damp panties too! 🙂 x
I already have the Detective one on my Amazon list, attracted by that ‘south London’ setting.
Best wishes, Pete. xx

Ooh, you’re getting close to home with this one, Dani. 🙂 I’m not far from Greenville. Please, no scary ghouls or goblins or other critters from the “other side” allowed west of Greenville. Enjoyed the review–keep on keeping on! 🙂
