Synopsis

Cottonbloom is the perfect place for starting over, finding your way back home—and falling head over heels. . .From award winning author Laura Trentham comes Set the Night on Fire: A Cottonbloom Novel.

Ella Boudreaux has a lot to prove to her family, friends, and foes—and to herself. So when her marriage ends she decides to invest her energy and money into a place that brings back some of Ella’s happiest memories: the Abbott brothers’ garage. Maybe, if she puts her mind to it, she can teach skeptical, stubborn Mack Abbott how to make the business a true success. Which would be a lot easier if the hunky mechanic didn’t make her motor run quite so fast…and hot.

dkGhBWE3SyzXW.gif

Mack was furious when his brother, Ford, sold his share of the business. He’s in no rush to team up with a wealthy divorcée who shows up to the garage in stilettos—and the longest, sexiest legs he’s seen in forever. But Ella’s grit and determination won’t quit…and soon Mack can see that she’s been down a few rough roads herself. Neither Mack nor Ella can deny the fierce attraction that’s revving up between them. Could it be that true love has been in the backseat all along…and they’ve finally found the key?

He attempts to go unnoticed at school and in the streets of the Exclave but attracts the attention of friends and bullies alike.

Naz is ordinary, or so he thinks. He harbors a secret of which he is unaware. A seemingly random act of gang violence propels Naz on a path that leads to discoveries about his supernatural abilities, abilities that will ultimately decide whether he lives or dies. Now he must navigate his turbulent surroundings and face the full force of the world around him. The only way he can survive is to discover the supernatural world within.

Book ReviewWow, what a series that I just know for a fact that many readers’ will absolutely LOVE! I fell in love with the characters from the beginning chapters of the first novel. I know it’s bad but I didn’t take a break to review between books because my girlfriend and myself couldn’t stop engulfing ourselves with this trilogy. I am so thankful to the author for sending me copies of this series and I am also so glad that along with my girlfriend another member in my household read along to this book and there just as an amazing two books that followed.

tumblr_opm84uNu5H1qf5hjqo1_500.gif

I was captivated by Naz Anderson and was immediately attached to his character. These
stories covered an array of lessons and fun times but I have to say that what I loved most was seeing how much Naz grew and how strong he was with his special powers and the strength he grew from within. I would recommend this series to all and I was so sad to finish this fantastic series.
I can’t thank my Book Sister Kim enough for the

Praise for CLOCKWISE:  Completely original!
It’s funnier than heck, great for all ages, and full of surprises.
Oh, I absolutely loved Clockwise!

A teenage time traveler accidentally takes her secret crush back in time. Awkward.

Casey Donovan has issues: hair, height and uncontrollable trips to the 19th century! And now this –she’s accidentally taken Nate Mackenzie, the cutest boy in the school, back in time. Awkward.Protocol pressures her to tell their 1860 hosts that he is her brother, and when Casey finds she has a handsome, wealthy (and unwanted) suitor, something changes in Nate. Are those romantic sparks or is it just “brotherly” protectiveness?

When they return to the present, things go back to the way they were before: Casey parked on the bottom of the rung of the social ladder and Nate perched high on the very top. Except, this time her heart is broken. Plus, her best friend is mad, her parents are split up, and her younger brother gets escorted home by the police. The only thing that could make life worse is if, by some strange twist of fate, she took Nate back to the past again.

Which of course, she does.

What readers are saying:

“What a fun read! Author Elle Strauss successfully combines adventure, time travel and romance all in one book. This isn’t your typical sci-fi, time travel book”

“This is a light-hearted time-travel. Part adventure, some disaster, a dash of comedy and an edge of romance.”

Miss ya lovelies! I am hoping to be spamming your notifications up again today! Yay! I just absolutely adore this planner! When I first saw it featured on my friend Carrie’s blog over @ Carrie’s Book Reviews, I just had to contact the author to find out more about her works. She was so kind and you could tell she really knew right off hand she knew all about the magical world.😍

When I received the planner, I was immediately captivated by the simple yet unique look and feel of it. I also enjoyed how much room there is inside of it to personalize it and make it your own. There is also tidbits of all kinds of information provided in the journal!

I have been practicing finding my higher self since I have realized with a smack in the face that I was an Intuitive Empath. I always would get literally sick at the sight and just to hear of someone else’s pain. I even confined myself to my home after coming off a long ride with addiction. Once I couldn’t hide behind drugs anymore, the emotions and energies I felt from everyone else was just too overwhelming! I am still trying to figure out all that I believe and what I am but it’s so awesome to have books like this to explore something so interesting that has been around for years and years. There’s more to me finding out I was gifted and couldn’t be explained by simple science but don’t really want to go there in fear of everyone thinking I am nutso! But anywho, this book had great pieces of info, a pretty cover and plenty of space to let your creativity flow! I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who loves to use planners or journals like I do or if they are intrigued by things mystical and metaphysical.😄 Many thanks to the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All views are my own and I am so appreciative of this opportunity.

Free Kindle Book Feature Exclusive: Last Day To Get Father Figure by James J. Cudney For Free

Today is the last day you can grab James J.Cudney’s newest novel, Father Figure! Jay is an amazing author and all around great guy. Since my first days as a new blogger, Jay has shown me kindness and always had great posts and social media material. I also have read and reviewed Jay’s 5 Star debut novel, Watching Glass Shatter and it was amazing! I will be thankfully reading Jay’s Father Figure for the Reads & Reels Blog Tour! Woot! Well you guys get a piece of the action as well by getting your free copy today!

Between the fast-paced New York City, a rural Mississippi town and a charming Pennsylvania college campus filled with secrets, two young girls learn the consequences of growing up too quickly.

Amalia Graeme, abused by her mother for most of her life, longs to escape her desolate hometown and fall in love. Contemplating her loss of innocence and conflicting feelings between her boyfriend and the dangerous attraction she’s developed for an older man, Amalia faces life-altering tragedies.

Brianna Porter, a sassy, angst-ridden teenager raised in New York City, yearns to find her life’s true purpose, conquer her fear of abandonment, and interpret an intimidating desire for her best friend, Shanelle. Desperate to find the father whom her mother refuses to reveal, Brianna accidentally finds out a shocking truth about her missing parent.

Set in alternating chapters two decades apart, the parallels between their lives and the unavoidable collision that is bound to happen is revealed. FATHER FIGURE is an emotional story filled with mystery, romance, and suspense.

James is my given name; most call me Jay. I grew up on Long Island and currently live in New York City, but I’ve traveled all across the US (and various parts of the world). After college, I spent 15 years working in technology and business operations in the sports, entertainment and media industries. Although I enjoyed my job, I left in 2016 to focus on my passion: telling stories and connecting people through words. My debut novel is ‘Watching Glass Shatter,’ a contemporary fiction family drama with elements of mystery, suspense, humor and romance. To see samples or receive news from my current and upcoming books, please subscribe with your email address at my website: https://jamesjcudney.com
What do I do outside of writing: I’m an avid genealogist (discovered 2K family members going back about 250 years) and cook (I find it so hard to follow a recipe). I love to read; between Goodreads and my blog at https://thisismytruthnow.com, I have over 500 book reviews which will give you a full flavor for my voice and style. On my blog, I started the 365 Daily Challenge, where I post a word each day that has some meaning to me, then converse with everyone about life. There is humor, tears, love, friendship, advice and bloopers. Lots of bloopers where I poke fun at myself all the time. Even my dog has a weekly segment called “Ryder’s Rants” where he complains about me. All these things make up who I am; none of them are very fancy or magnanimous, but they are real and show how I live every day.

A bit of humor: Everything doubles as something else when you live in NYC. For me, it’s the dining room, my favorite space in the apartment, where more than just my cooking is on display! As I look out the windows onto a 12th floor terrace, various parts of nature (trees, bushes, flowers, bugs & animals) inspire me to write. Ryder, my 10-year old shiba inu, usually lays on my feet, growling when I shift positions too many times or when I forget to share my food! Although he’s only 20 pounds, he’s quite strong and pushy. But how else can you pen the best story possible without these things by your side?

Until next time friends! Xoxox,

Dani😘💜📚

Author Interview with Nonieqa Ramos~Author of The Disturbed Girl’s Dictionary

What’s up guys!? Today I am hosting an interview with author of The Disturbed Girl’s Dictionary, Nonieqa Ramos! I just LOVED this book and it was relatable in so many ways! Heck Yes to all the Macy’s of the World! You can find my review of The Disturbed Girl’s Dictionary here. I hope everyone has a badass weekend and I hope to catch up on everyone’s blog soon. I have been having a killer case of vertigo this last week so it’s been difficult to read everyone’s posts but you guys are the shizit! So enough about me let’s learn more about this author and this book!

Macy’s school officially classifies her as “disturbed,” but Macy isn’t interested in how others define her. She’s got more pressing problems: her mom can’t move off the couch, her dad’s in prison, her brother’s been kidnapped by Child Protective Services, and now her best friend isn’t speaking to her. Writing in a dictionary format, Macy explains the world in her own terms—complete with gritty characters and outrageous endeavors. With an honesty that’s both hilarious and fearsome, slowly Macy reveals why she acts out, why she can’t tell her incarcerated father that her mom’s cheating on him, and why her best friend needs protection . . . the kind of protection that involves Macy’s machete.

Will you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Sure! I’m betrothed to my soulmate and have two lovely beasties, Margot and Langston. I’m a Latinx writer of picture books (stay tuned!) and YA, an educator of about fourteen years specializing in the Macys of the world, and a breast cancer
survivor frustrated that my hair will only grow up and out but not down. Actually, I am a survivor of many things.
Can you tell us about your new novel, The Disturbed Girl’s Dictionary?
My novel is about fifteen-year-old Macy who has been defined as emotionally disturbed, ADHD, OCD. You name it–she’s got it. Her father’s in jail and expects Macy to spy on her promiscuous mother. Nothing in her life is certain, not food, not
heat, not love. Her true family are her friends George and Alma.
Macy writes the dictionary to take control of her life and define herself.
Macy’s situation at the end of the book is how kids like her walk in the door when they enter the foster care system.
Are the characters in your story based off yourself or anyone else?
Macy is that kid every one wants to give up on. Their anger is ferocious. Toxic. You wish she were absent, but she’s at school every damn day. She is the destroyer of lesson plans. Of plans, in general. She’s also the kid that needs us the most.
The kid who needs us to see the bigger picture. The kind of world that makes little girls like her into tigers.
What inspired you to become an author?
Being an author is in my DNA. I started writing stories in marble composition notebooks wrapped in old Christmas wrapping paper. Writing has always been my refuge, my escape, my catharsis, and now my platform. Right now I’m watching poetry taking
it’s proper place in YA literature–off the bottom and back shelves and on the end caps, and I’m feeling grateful to be writing at the right time. My roots are in poetry.
If you wrote an autobiography, what would the title be?
My title might be The DEFINITION of INSANITY, a novel-in-verse.
Did you take writing classes or are you self taught?
I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with an M.F.A and an M.ed. That being said, the MFA was one rung on a very long ladder to learning my craft. I’m still climbing. I’m studying authors like Kelly Link and Tomi Adeyemi before I attempt
to write my first fantasy book.
What is the hardest part of writing?
To be honest, the waiting is the hardest part. I’m brimming over with ideas, but I need a thirty hour day. I have to wait to have the energy and time to write because I work full-time. I have to wait to get responses about projects because glaciers
move faster than the publishing world.
What are your hobbies?
I love making our house into a sort of Jumanjiesque museum and filling it with plants, cats, dolls, books, candles, records, and art from our favorite magazine Hi Fructose.
What is your favorite book? I know this can be a difficult question for readers.
As a reader, my favorite childhood books were Edith Hamilton’s GREEK MYTHOLOGY. JANE EYRE, LITTLE WOMEN, LITTLE HOUSE on the PRAIRIE, WHERE the SIDEWALK ENDS, and NANCY DREW. As a reader and writer, I am forever indebted to Gabriel Garcia-Marquez
and Pablo Neruda. My big recommends for YA debut reads right now are Kiersi Birkhart’s HONOR CODE and Fred Aceves’ THE CLOSEST I’VE COME.

I vow to finish every book that I receive because when a publishing company or an author sends me an advanced copy they are giving me a golden opportunity. I am given the opportunity to read a book that would have costs me a good bit of money for free and they could have given the opportunity to another blogger. I have never reviewed a book as a DNF and stand by my standards to do everything in my power to not have to do this again. I also wanted to let the readers know ahead of time that I did not get past the first 2 chapters so I can’t give you the best of knowledge of this story. I only did not finish because of triggers. The writing and word building was great but I could not get past the triggers. I feel I need to post my review not only to share my honest opinion but to give some a warning because the triggers for me caused panic. I also want to genuinely apologize to the publisher and author for not finishing this story. It had nothing to do with your writing or this book. My review is simply because of my own personal triggers.

SynopsisA powerful novel about a gutsy showgirl who tries to conquer her past amongst the glamour of 1960s Las Vegas–and finds unexpected fortune, friendship, and love.

It was unimaginable. When she was eight years old, Lily Decker somehow survived the auto accident that killed her parents and sister, but neither her emotionally distant aunt nor her all-too-attentive uncle could ease her grief. Dancing proves to be Lily’s only solace, and eventually, she receives a “scholarship” to a local dance academy–courtesy of a mysterious benefactor.

Grown and ready to leave home for good, Lily changes her name to Ruby Wilde and heads to Las Vegas to be a troupe dancer, but her sensual beauty and voluptuous figure land her work instead as a showgirl performing everywhere from Les Folies Bergere at the Tropicana to the Stardust’s Lido de Paris. Wearing costumes dripping with feathers and rhinestones, five-inch heels, and sky-high headdresses, Ruby may have all the looks of a Sin City success story, but she still must learn to navigate the world of men–and figure out what real love looks like.

With her uncanny knack for understanding the hidden lives of women, Elizabeth J. Church captures both the iconic extravagance of an era and the bravery of a young woman who dances through her sadness to find connection, freedom, and, most important, herself.

Book ReviewI am sorry but I had to DNF this book not because it was bad but because there were some really big triggers for me. Honestly, I can’t sleep tonight because the scenes keep running through my head. I usually can handle talk about these triggers but it went to a detail that caused me to hyperventilate. This is totally just a me thing. I know that many others love this book and it’s highly recommended. The triggers were just way too intense for me to sit through. There are triggers of an animal death and intense childhood abuse scenes. I’m sure this book was great and many others have enjoyed it, I just can’t finish it because of some recent trauma that I have experienced. I don’t know how to rate this story because I couldn’t get past the first chapters without a panic attack but it was well written and think many will enjoy so my lack of stars is not personally against the book it is because I don’t feel I can rate something properly that I didn’t read. I’m sorry that I haven’t been active today or last night. I just didn’t realize the possible effects that a book could have on you this extent. If you’re not triggered by these events than I would suggest you checking it out for yourself.
I want to thank the publishers and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review. I appreciate this opportunity and all views expressed are my own.
