My soulmate. My first love. The only one I’ve ever wanted.

I moved on, tried to forget his smile, the way his hands felt on my skin.

But when my life gets dangerous again, he walks back into my store, white knight to the rescue.

This is a full-length romantic suspense novel that is Part 1 in an exciting new trilogy by Alexis Abbott. Explicit language. Safe from cheating.

EXCERPT:

“After everything that’s happened today, I never expected a stranger to take that kind of time,” Serena says with a sigh.

“What’s happened today?” I ask, quirking a brow, and I see her cheeks tinge with a bit of color.

“Wh- oh, nothing. The guy who caused the accident just kind of ran off, is all,” she lies, averting her eyes to the setting sun outside.

“Dirty move,” I say, crossing my arms. “Good thing you run a soap store.”

She just stares at me in disbelief for a beat before she bursts into a laugh at my awful pun, covering her face for a moment. “Oh…wow,” she says, starting to take a few steps toward me. “Who are you?”

“Someone who can tell you’ve had too much on your plate for one day,” I say. Every muscle in my body wants to take a step toward her as well, to play the game between us that she’s slipping into already. I want to flirt with her, charm her all over again, even as a stranger, take her out for a good time. If I’m really honest, I want to bend her over that counter and take her right here and now.

But for her safety, I have to keep my distance.

“Oh, who am I kidding,” she says, running a hand through her hair and looking out the door. “You’re right. Today’s been a nightmare.” She looks back to me, eyes flitting up and down my form. “Thank you, though. Really. God, I feel so silly, you didn’t come here to-”

“Get some rest,” I say, her name on the tip of my tongue before I reel it back in. “I’ll come back by tomorrow. Maybe I can take care of any other messes that come up,” I say, a boyish smile on my face.

I see the color flush into her cheeks, and she loses her words for a moment before she says, “I’ll be here!”

She was a spoiled brat when I knew her, but even then, it was the easiest thing in the world to get her off her guard and swooning. But I liked that about her. She didn’t feel shame for her feelings. She felt everything intensely. It was good to see that hadn’t changed.

There’s so much more I want to say, but I step out into the cool air without another word to her as I hear her voice calling, “Wait, I didn’t get your name!”

I pretend not to hear.

Seeing how happy she is now, I can’t let our tangled past flood into her life and upset everything she has. She’s running her own business, for god’s sake.

How would she feel about me if she knew I was an enforcer for the mafia?

I want to thank Gretchen Gomez for gifting me a copy of love, & you. I won this book in a Twitter Giveaway and all opinions and views expressed are my own.

Exerpt off Goodreads:

one day i met a guy
who stole my heart,
we created a world
for ourselves.
and another day
he broke my heart
and shattered
my soul.

i took the tattered
pieces of this
broken soul and
became anew.

– here lies the hurting, the healing, and the learning

(please be advised this book has mature content)

Review: Wow! I have not read a poetry book in a long time and was so glad I sat down and read love, & you. I won this book as a giveaway that many entered off of Twitter. I was like “Yay free book”. What I didn’t realize was the effect this book would have on me personally. The author talks about her heartbreak, trauma, sickness and eventually loving herself. I could relate to everything the author stated and could feel her emotions through the pages. I actually read this book in one sitting with my girlfriend Andrea and we were both stunned on how intense this book was and how much we could relate. Gretchen Gomez put her pain on paper and created an intense and heartfelt masterpiece. From someone who has battled mental illness, cancer and heartbreak, this poetry book was just what I needed to hold my head up. I fight everyday with my emotions and physical ailments. Love, & you was a short poetry book but packed the right punch. I needed to hear your story Gretchen, to change my own. 5 out of 5 stars!!!💚💛💜💙😁

Review: I give this book 5 out of 5 suspenseful stars! The story was split between the victim and the investigator’s POV and I loved that! This book had me up late turning pages and on the edge of my seat. I felt like I could feel the victim and the ivestigator’s emotions in this enthralling thriller. I loved the characterization and this book was very well written. I highly recommend checking out this suspenseful title. giphy (14)

Review: I give this book 4 out of 5 retro-tastic stars! I really enjoyed the unique environment the diner gave me reading this cute story. I have always enjoyed the look of retro diners and different things from the 50’s era! I thought this book was fun, sweet and cute. Overall, I really enjoyed this read. This book made me smile quite a few times. The only thing I didn’t enjoy quite a bit was I didn’t like the cliffhanger. I’m just not a leave me at the cliff until the next book comes out kind of girl. I also felt that Esther got a bit too dramatic at times. All in all, I would recommend this book and it was quite enjoyable.

About the Author

Angelina Kerner.jpg

Angelina Kerner’s writing career started at a young age when she discovered that her creativity could be channeled through a bit of ink and paper.

She moved around during her younger years from Novosibirsk and Kaluga Russia to finally settle in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. This startling contrast between the fierce snow of Siberia and the bright sun of the American West is a crucial source of inspiration and humility: the forces of people is to be found not only in their spirits, but in their land too.

Angelina’s curiosity in the human condition led her to pursue courses in psychology and blossomed into a master’s degree in Topographical science. It was with a burning fire that she rejected the status quo offered to her generation, and after many meaningless jobs, she decided that writing could be the canvas in which she could express this dichotomy. While working full time behind counters and registers, she persisted in supporting her family, her full-time coursework, and her creative dreams.

She dared to believe in her talents, and most importantly, in her ability to make a real mark on this world.

Like any creative soul, there was time for doubts, self-loathing, and loneliness, but never fear. She worked on countless experimental narratives, universes, genres, until her voice crystallized into her first published narrative. She is now the author of Deity’s Soulmate and Seven Hours: Challenge Accepted. Her next project involves a competition for a beautiful phoenix. Angelina currently divides her time between her family, work, writing, lots of cats, and two celestial dragons.
