Song for A Lost Kingdom~Digital Reads

I want to give a big thanks to Shalini @Digital Reads Blog Tours. I apologize for this tour and others being late due to Hurricane Florence and a family member being admitted to ICU and another one very ill but I appreciate this opportunity and all views expressed are my own.

Music is not bound by time…

Adeena Stuart is a struggling cellist ready to give up on her dream of landing a spot with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. All that changes when she receives a musical score, lost for almost 300 years in a Scottish castle, sent by her dying grandmother.

When the score is played on the oldest surviving cello ever made in the UK, the music connects Adeena directly to the past as Katharine Carnegie, struggling to find words to complete her symphonic tour-de-force in the midst of 18th Century political rebellion that is tearing apart Scotland and England.

But Adeena is not a scientist or historian. What she wants more than anything is to create and compose. As she is buffeted back and forth between the past and present, she grows to want more of the past, even though the promise of her most yearned-for professional dream is coming true.

With a clear voice that sets us in modern day Ottawa and old world Scotland, Song for a Lost Kingdom, Book I, begins a journey of discovery between two women who share the same musical soul and love for the same doomed man.

Excerpt:

Scotland, 1746

KATHARINE’S ONLY CONCERN was for the new life taking hold in her womb. Only yesterday she had felt its first wondrous kick and now it stirred again, as his dirty fingers penetrated her roughly.

“Ahh,” the drunken Redcoat grunted. “Ye want it, don’t ya bitch?”

Katharine struggled to break free of his choking hold around her neck. But he only gripped tighter and pushed his thick fingers into her deeper. She felt another tiny kick in her belly as if in response to the gross violation.

“Stop!” she cried. “You’re hurting the baby!”

The soldier laughed and withdrew his fingers. “Yer traitor’s bastard?”

He kept one hand around her throat as he raised the other, showing her the filthy fingers that he had used so horribly inside of her. He brought them to her lips and her stomach wrenched.

“My brother’s coming.” She gathered all her strength into a warning glare.

He ignored the threat and shoved two foul fingers into her mouth, feeling around her tongue. “The Captain knows what you’ve done. And with who.” He paused a moment before retracting his fingers to her bottom lip, peeling it down as if he were examining an animal.

“Yer a strong wench. But I’ll no marry you, like he asked me to.” He let go of her and stood up. “I like your music, and I just want to ride you. My mate wants a turn too.” He started to unbutton his tunic and she knew she had to do something. Her mind was racing.

Her tone softened. “Can I undress first?”

He grinned, exposing his jagged brown teeth. “Yeah. Like ta see what I’m getting.” He sat down on the bed and began to remove his boots.

Katharine looked around to see where she had left her violoncello. She had brought it upstairs after tonight’s performance in the main hall of the Inn. Now it sat in the corner of the room and the bow lay on the table beside it, near a candle that provided the only light. She began to undress, a plan forming in her mind.

“Come over here wench,” the Redcoat called to her. He lay flat on the bed, his engorged organ standing at attention. “Get on me.”

She blew out the candle, gathered herself and walked slowly towards the man who waved his organ like a sword, grunting for her. The room was dark with only a faint moon outlining her shape. She came to the bedside, sickening herself with a faltering smile, displaying her bare breasts and crotch to him. As he reached to pull her on top of him, she took the bow from behind her back and in one swift movement, drove the end of it into his right eye.

He screamed in agony as she jumped away.

Katharine grabbed her dress off the floor, bolted out the door, down the stairs and out of Culloden House into the cold Scottish night.

This was a fantastic historical fiction! It had great characters and a great storyline. I truly enjoyed it during this hectic week and would definitely recommend it to those whom enjoy the genre.❤💛❤

Book Review: The Kithseeker~Rachel’s Random Resources

I would like to thank Rachel @ Rachel’s Random Resources and the author for providing me an opportunity to be part of this tour. Sorry this post is a little late due to hurricane preparation for my family.

The Kithseeker

France, 1680

Liara’s defense of the Wizard Nagarath has rendered Anisthe incantate–bereft of magick–but even this cannot guarantee her safety. Because the death of her father-in-magick would seal the girl’s fate, necessity demands she and her wizard maintain a watchful eye on the war mage, while protecting her from his dark designs.
Anisthe has embarked on a journey across Europe, aided by his half-fey manservant with an agenda all his own. They search for a legendary mirror that contains the world’s most powerful magick. Although the stuff of fairytales, the possibility of its existence compels Nagarath and Liara to seek the artifact themselves. Both know that should Anisthe lay claim to that power, Liara would be at his mercy and not even Nagarath could save her.
Thus, the pair find themselves at Versailles, surrounded by agents who ferret out magick users and destroy them. Uncertain who is friend and who is foe, with their rival on their heels, they must discover the mirror before Anisthe releases its evil, or worse, it lays claim to Liara’s magick and brings doom upon them all.

This was such an unique and fantastic read! It has amazing characters and a plot that will keep you turning pages or scrolling through the night!😍 The only issue is that I wanted more and wished I read the backstory! The storyline was quite compelling and many fantasy lovers alike would fall in love with the world building! A wonderful read, that I highly recommend!

Blitz: Odyssey in a Teacup by Paula Houseman~Rachel’s Random Resources

I would like to thank Rachel @ Rachel’s Random Resources and the author for allowing me to be a part of this Blog Blitz! Odyssey in a Teacup

Encounters with a pair of supersized Y-fronts; a humourless schoolmarm with an unfortunate name and monstrous yellow incisors; and a tut-tutting, big-breasted, modern-day gorgon are the norm for Ruth Roth. She’s used to crazy.
Her mum squawks like a harpy and her dad has a dodgy moral compass. Add in daily face-offs with a relentlessly bitchy mirror, and Ruth’s home life feels like a Greek tragicomedy.

She hankers for the ordinary. But blah is not a good fit for someone who doesn’t fit in. And isn’t meant to.
Ruth’s vanilla existence is an issue for her besties—her hot-looking, obsessive-compulsive cousin and soul mate (who needs to do everything twice-twice), and her two closest girlfriends.

With their encouragement and a good homoeopathic dose of ancient mythology, Ruth embarks on an odyssey to retrieve her spirit. She’s confronted with her biggest challenge ever, though, when one of these friends sends her spiralling back into a dark place.
The decision she must make can either bring her out or launch the mother of all wars in her world.

This book was utterly magical! It was just what the doctor ordered and I’m so glad I obliged.😊 I believe books have power and this novel was so powerful because the amount of smiles and the amount of laughter it produced! I have been so stressed with my upcoming eviction and to be honest this story was the perfect escape.

It transported me to a magical place that made me feel free and actually happy! I wasn’t having constant panic and going cuckoo figuring out what to do with life because this book to me a place of laughter that made my heart full. If this book isn’t magic than I don’t know what is then.😉

I loved the characters and I thought the world building and plot was phenomal. I really have no complaints with this story besides the fact that I’ve already finished it.😕 You know you love a book when you intentionally slow down your reading pace just so you can enjoy it longer! I am looking forward to rereading it in the future and I can’t wait to see what the author comes out with next! If you are looking for a good read, I highly recommend Odyssey in a Teacup by Paula Houseman. Hands down, a must read 5 star book!

Author Bio – Paula Houseman was once a graphic designer. But when the temptation to include ‘the finger’ as part of a logo for a forward-moving women’s company proved too much, she knew it was time to give away design. Instead, she took up writing.
She found she was a natural with the double entendres (God knows she’d been in enough trouble as a child for dirty wordplay).
As a published writer of earthy chick lit and romantic comedy, Paula gets to bend, twist, stretch and juice up universal experiences to shape reality the way she wants it, even if it is only in books. But at the same time, she can make it more real, so that her readers feel part of the sisterhood. Or brotherhood (realness has nothing to do with gender).
Through her books, Paula also wants to help the reader escape into life and love’s comic relief. And who doesn’t need to sometimes?
Her style is a tad Monty Pythonesque because she adores satire. It helps defuse all those gaffes and thoughts that no one is too proud of.
Paula lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband. No other creatures. The kids have flown the nest and the dogs are long gone.

Book Review: Golden Skies by Juan Zapata~Digital Reads

I would like to thank Shalini @ Digital Reads Blog Tours and the author for allowing me to take part of this blog tour!😀 I appreciate this opportunity and all views are my own.

GOLDEN SKIES BY JUAN ZAPATTA

As a boy, Malik watched an army of religious zealots swarm his home town, slaughtering his people and running his beloved grandfather through with a black sword. Nine years later, Malik still believes there’s peace…somewhere. At least that’s what he tells himself as his body is ripped apart by whips at a conversion camp. That’s what his best friend whispers as he frantically creates new force technology and jetpacks to rescue Malik. Yet when war bursts through the skies and the sky troopers, assassins, and heroes fall, when the world comes crashing down, Malik Zzoha stands amidst the sands to lead a band of friends and revolutionaries to face his tyrannical, zealot father, determined to free the people he loves.

Excerpt:

“Let her go!” I shrieked, attempting to leap forward. I doubled over in pain as the guards holding me struck me in the gut. Tears of anguish brimmed at my eyes. “I…won’t serve anyone!” I spat on the ground, screaming. “Safad isn’t a god! He’s nothing!”

The guards holding me suddenly let go, taken aback. Silence rang forth from the crowd and rapidly descended upon the entire square.

Mujadin looked at me, speechless.

“Safad isn’t holy! He’s a man who pisses and shits like everyone else. His laws are hogwash. You kill for nothing! You are nothing! You’re a liar, scum, a deceiver. All your life fighting for some sick charlatan!” I yelled, feeling blood rush to my face, popping out the veins on my throat and forehead.

I didn’t truly know if I believed what I was saying, but Kafed had echoed my own thoughts on the subject countless times; he believed that Safad wasn’t divine—that he’d tricked others with his ‘miracles’ to gain power and keep it. Everything that was happening was because of that narcissistic, deceiving man-god my father worshipped.

No one in the crowd moved or spoke. The soldiers around me leveled their weapons at my head. The penalty for denying Safad’s divinity was death. I tightened my fists. If this was to end in a hail of bullets, at least I’d diverted attention from those about to be executed, my sister, and Kafed.

Mujadin put up a trembling hand, ordering the men to hold their fire. A deadly whisper. “No. No. He will suffer.”

A short, quiet pause rang forth, then suddenly, I lost control of my body and fell to the concrete ground, pain exploding from every nerve. I’d been struck by stun weapons.

My vision blurred, light entering my pupils in bursts. For one second I saw my father’s stony face, the next the feet of guards, the crowd staring at me, the sea-green sky, my sister weeping on the ground, Kafed flanked by guards.

Soldiers grabbed each of my arms and hoisted me to my knees. Time seemed to slow as I got my bearings, blinking at the crowd, then the air was sliced in two, the sound of a whip whistling before it hit its mark.

Tongues of fire lit up my back, pulling a heinous scream from my throat. My muscles tightened like knots, fresh air eating away at my raw flesh. Red engulfed my vision, and the air thundered and rippled. Wapash! My forearms tensed, and I cried out, trembling. The flames returned again and again, one lash after the other, ceaseless. The sky darkened, and the blistering heat disappeared. My flesh shredded apart in lines, pulled off my muscles in crisscrossing patterns, my blood flowing out, dripping onto the stone. The leather gouged deep into me with each lick. I could hardly breathe.

My tear-filled eyes stared blankly to those below the platform and rested upon a man below me, just one of the many among thousands. White skin. Blond hair. A Northeasterner? My eyes widened at the woman beside him—fiery red locks flared out behind a scarlet mask. Piercing blue eyes drank me in. I expected hostility from them but found shock instead. Sympathy. Conflict within these foreigners. And then they were gone, replaced by black. A last shuddering breath, another crack, and darkness took me.

WOW, what a fantastic novel! When Shalini first told me about this novel, I thought it sounded good. I had no idea that it would be so intriguing and have me turning pages throughout the night. The world building was phenomenal and this was a Class A Sci-Fi novel that I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys the genre. The plot and story was compelling and unique. This novel was also filled with loads of adventure and is sure to captivate many! Hands down, 4.5 out of 5 shining stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Divination Services I Offer And An Update On My Family & Health

Thoughts and Quotes

Hello there, friends! As many of you know I haven’t had internet access and have had one hell of a year, well I kind of want to touch base on that and update you some lovelies, the ones who have been asking questions and what not. So as many of you know I faced a huge financial battle this year and because of how many supportive friends that I have on here I was able to have food, paid some on electricity and was able to take my seizure medications! Yippee! To be honest, I went 5 days without eating, went without AC while it was in the 90s, and was bruised up from head to toe at that time and I was humiliated. So to have loved ones such as yourself do this for me not only made a way, but it humbled me to a great extent to know how many good people surrounded me through their shares, likes, prayers and/or vibes, amazing donations, and most of all the fact that I finally had amazing and trustworthy friends!

Well ladies and gentlemen, I made two awful mistakes. First mistake was closing down raising $ with my fundraiser without reaching my goal just because I figured there was two forms of employment found, I had a close friend that didn’t mind just helping out babysit, and I was wrong for thinking things were just better and felt that everyone saw me different because I was this loser and beggar. The second mistake I made was literally asking God and the Universe, why I was rock bottom and thinking things couldn’t get worse because man, they did!!!wp-1535208616059.png

One clue of advice, my friends, never ask this question because I think God and/or the Universe took this as a challenge! Like you think that was hard, let me show you some shit! I mean don’t get me wrong, I lived through worse things as an innocent child. No child should ever have to face torture to extremes to get the highest bidder’s perverted fantasy fulfilled. Even though I have lived through this and I have even loved through dying 3 times before the age of 10 and was brought back, I still find my current issues harder to face. Not because it was all in the past, definitely not. In fact, I live with those images and flashbacks daily but what makes my situation so difficult for me is the impact it has on my three amazing children. With them, it changes everything. If It was just me on my own, I wouldn’t care what would happen to me but since I was blessed to be a mom, It changes every  fiber of my being because I may not have chosen to get pregnant with my first child at 19 but I chose to keep her and I made her the choice and promise to protect her above all else. I have to put my pride aside and I must remain strong for them.74115276_1151

When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.

-Sophia Loren

So to bring you up to speed and give an update on yours truly and her big family(including all the animals I rescued from death or an abusive situation), things seemed to get better for maybe a month after I did the fundraiser back in April. Things spun out of control and the last few months we have scrambled, walked, applied and tried everything in our power to survive but we are to the point of having no more way, an eviction notice hanging over my head by my own family, no money whatsoever to get out of the eviction, no internet or phone service so are unable to get a hold or hired for any jobs, and three kids that deserve the best and I don’t know what to do. I am absolutely at the end of the line. After I disabled the last fundraiser a month later Thomas’s boss ran off with all his employees checks even though I knew the boss since forever, the car that was providing the other form of income was repoed because when family said they would pay it that didn’t happen. So we went quickly to below zero once again. I kept hope and pushed through and found every resource I could to help and things continued to crumble. As some may know, I am in remission for liver cancer for the last four years, well after getting deathly sick from a spell of not eating again and who knows what else, test results show that my liver enzymes and kidney levels are through the roof even more than they were at cancer status. I haven’t been able to afford the biopsy and tests I need let alone my maintenance dose of chemotherapy that I have been on for years. My inflammation levels are high and I have been in excruciating pain. I also have been fighting seizures and seeing my loved ones not get the proper treatment as well. It has been literally one thing after another. The doctor put me on bed rest until I can find out what’s going on with me and then my world comes crashing down and my children got hurt if you don’t know about the situation, you can read about it @ https://touchmyspinebookreviews.com/2018/07/20/motherhood-heartbreak-how-do-i-pick-up-the-pieces/

I will tell you that thankfully my children haven’t been without food because us adults stopped eating for them a few times and now we have food benefits and help from our church with food but everything else is CRAZY!😵 I also found out that my children were hurt and that made things go through a whirlwind. I panicked at every turn but finally regained my will and I’m the end I’m still at a lost and running out of time quickly. I struggled to pay for copays and any deductible for my kids to be seen by a specialist and they still need to be seen but my car doesn’t have insurance and needs a repair. Also the “friend” that was the babysitter that first month stole our rent money and hacked into our accounts, stole everything I own of value, and even stole family heirlooms that were irreplaceable or push come to shove could have been maybe sold for a way but she took everything. I am fought to stay myself through all this but now I am at the point of losing it. We have to come up with some money by next week and we have to come up with a plan because we will be homeless and hungry in the next 2 weeks.

I know that that’s a lot to digest and you’re tragedyprobably already running to the hills!!!

tenor (1).gif

I don’t know for sure why I am blaring this on public forum besides the fact that I feel bad that I have been so minimally active and really felt I should have given everyone a better follow up after the fundraiser and I love to vent here in the occasion, to be honest. Lol. Not only do I love to vent on here because this is the only place that I feel like I can  be myself and have support from real friends. The friends that I have missed dearly. Phew! Does it feel good to let it all loose to you guys!giphy red-flower-drawing-page-divider-5-1024x252Another thing I wanted to share was that I wanted to see if anybody was interested in my services for great prices.(I know that sounded a little sexual but promise that I am not offering sexual favors over the internet. Lol. No judgement though, if that’s your thing because to each is their own. What I am talking about is I have been a professional Tarot, Oracle, Angel Readings and Lenormand Reader, I also have professionally read palms and conducted basic numerology and astroloft reports. I knew you guys knew I was a reader and into many different psychic things and many different divinivation tools but I don’t think I shared with many that before my recent spiritual awakening I did professional readings years ago for about four years in a small business. I also have been accepted by Zodiac Psychics as a Tarot Reader and Life Coaching or being a counselor of sorts. Not only do I have professional and educational experience in all types of divination, I have my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I know some may be thinking who would want advice from someone who doesn’t have it together financially and such but suruprising as it may be, I also have certifications in drug counseling and have volunteered for many years as a counselor at The Rape Crisis center and as a speaker and mentor at group homes that I attended as a child. I still have clients that I have seen for Tarot & advice that I started seeing 5 years ago, just unfortunately they came upon some stress as well this year so I try to help them out anyways much as I can. So with all this being said, it’s beyond obvious that my family needs a way to make money and I am to the point at putting my pride aside but I don’t want to offer nothing in return to people. I mean if you guys aren’t into any of the stuff I offer or some kind of book promotion and want to help me out and donate anyway, I would be forever grateful and definitely am not trying to say I’m too good for donations at all. In fact, I would love some prayers, shares, vibes, encouraging words and/or donations to help go towards keeping our home together and for me keeping my children. I’m so sorry if this comes off as begging or any kind of way but I really want to give my kids a home and also find a way to get to work and do what’s best for them and get medical treatment and pray for a miracle. Even with all of this and knowing my chances of survival are slim if my cancer has returned, I still have that drive and push to keep things going and to fight for my kids. I also want to be there for you guys as well! Which luckily my neighbor is letting me use her internet because she is going out of town for the next week or two so I can hopefully figure something out. I don’t know if I should start another fundraiser via GoFundMe due to the fear of losing my children to very unkind people but my PayPal e-mail is daniellepirok88@gmail.com and I will also have a free texting Wi-Fi number working starting now again which is +1-843-941-7929. Please email or text me about any services I could provide or any questions whatsoever. Thank you for hearing me out my friends. Regardless of anything, I am so glad that I have met you all and will be visiting your blogs over the next few days! Yay!💖XOXOXOXO😘💯💖

Publication Day Push: The Mysterious Lord Millcroft by Virginia Heath

Making Lord Millcroft by Virginia Heath

The Mysterious Lord Millcroft, in fact the entire King’s Elite series, came about by accident as I was writing the final book in my Wild Warriners quartet. I knew from the outset that the charming lady’s man Jake Warriner was a spy, so in his book, A Warriner to Seduce Her, I had to create a whole new world of espionage. He was a member of the King’s Elite, a crack force of covert operatives who were tasked with catching smugglers. I never intended to pursue the King’s Elite beyond that one book.
In the first chapter of Jake’s book, when he had his long-awaited leave cancelled by his superior Lord Fennimore to schmooze vital information from a lady for the government, he tries to palm the task off on one of his colleagues. “Why can’t Flint seduce her?”
“I need Flint to keep chipping away on the other side… Besides, I can hardly send Leatham.” All eyes instinctively travelled to the jagged and impressive scar down Seb Leatham’s right cheek. Even without the scar, his friend resembled a bare-knuckle fighter and tended to be monosyllabic around the opposite sex.
And right then, Seb intrigued me. How did he get that scar? Why was he so painfully shy?
From then on, I knew that my side character had to have his own book so that I could delve into his psyche and background fully. From that first chapter in A Warriner to Seduce Her, I beefed up Seb’s role in that book. I made him commander of the Invisibles- the branch of the King’s Elite that specialised in blending into the shadows because that is what Seb did best. As the story unfolded, I realised he was brave and selfless. Quick witted and loyal.
While I was about it, I expanded Flint and Lord Fennimore too and by the time I actually wrote The Mysterious Lord Millcroft, I had two more agents to fall in love with. Seb’s second in command Gray and the government lawyer Hadleigh. In the end, that one little sentence turned into four books- The King’s Elite- and all five of those side characters get their own Happily Ever After, alongside some other side characters I created along the way. Or in past books. Even the heroine in The Mysterious Lord Millcroft is recycled. There’s a whole interwoven, constantly expanding Regency world now living inside my odd head…

The Mysterious Lord Millcroft blurb:

Life as a duchess… Or something much more dangerous…?
