By day, Florrie Fox manages Color Me Read bookstore in Georgetown, Washington D.C. By night, she creates her own intricately detailed coloring books for adults, filling the pages with objects that catch her eye. There’s plenty of inspiration in her new apartment—a beautiful carriage house belonging to Professor John Maxwell, Florrie’s boss. He offers the property to Florrie rent-free with one condition—she must move in immediately to prevent his covetous sister and nephew from trying to claim it.

When the professor’s nephew, Delbert, arrives, he proves just as sketchy as Florrie feared. But the following morning, Delbert has vanished. It’s not until she visits the third floor of the store that Florrie makes a tragic discovery—there’s a trap door in the landing, and a dead Delbert inside. The esteemed Professor Maxwell is an obvious suspect, but Florrie is certain this case isn’t so black and white. Doodling clues, she begins to consider other colorful characters on the scene, all with a motive for murder. With a killer drawing closer, Florrie will need to think outside the lines . . . before death makes his mark again.

Hey book nerdigans! I’m writing this post to share with you lovely people that today is release day for the final novel of Library Jumpers series by Brenda Drake! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this series! I am currently in the middle of book number 2, Guardian of Secrets, but you can find my review of the first in this novel, Thief of Lies, @ https://touchmyspinebookreviews.com/2018/01/20/book-review-thief-of-lies-by-brenda-drake/

Anyways here is the synopsis to the newest novel!

The gateways linking the great libraries of the world don’t require a library card, but they do harbor incredible dangers.

And it’s not your normal bump-in-the- night kind. The threats Gia Kearns faces are the kind with sharp teeth and knifelike claws. The kind that include an evil wizard hell-bent on taking her down.

Gia can end his devious plan, but only if she recovers seven keys hidden throughout the world’s most beautiful libraries. And then figures out exactly what to do with them.

The last thing she needs is a distraction in the form of falling in love. But when an impossible evil is unleashed, love might be the only thing left to help Gia save the world.

Brenda Drake grew up the youngest of three children, an Air Force brat, and the continual new kid at school. Her fondest memories growing up is of her eccentric, Irish grandmother’s animated tales, which gave her a strong love for storytelling. So it was only fitting that she would choose to write stories with a bend toward the fantastical. When she’s not writing or hanging out with her family, she haunts libraries, bookstores, and coffee shops, or reads someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her disappointment).

WELCOME TO ALPHAVILLE, where the she-wolves and alpha-males play. . .for keeps.

Renny Landry is a wolf on the run. Pursued by a shapeshifting stalker and his slobbering pack of killer coyotes, she is forced to flee her job as a librarian to find sanctuary in the wooded hills of Alpha, Washington. A well-secluded safe space for troubled shifters, Alpha is Renny’s last hope. But the first person she meets there is a gorgeous alpha male with fiery eyes, fierce tattoos, and one ferocious appetite—for her…

Mick Fischer thought he left his past behind when he moved to Alpha. But fate has a way of biting him in the tail when a female wolf shows up on his property. Wounded, desperate—and disarmingly hot—Renny brings out the snarling, protective alpha beast in Mick like no other woman he’s known. Can these two haunted, hunted wolves manage to mate for life…even as the deadliest past demons howl at their heels?

I picked up Baby, I am Howling for You by Christine Warren after reading Carrie @ Carrie’s Book Reviews review of the prequel novella for this series! Once that I saw that Carrie gave a fantastic rating for a novella I knew this series was worth checking out! This novel grabbed my attention from the start! I have not read much werewolf/shifter novels but after reading this one, I am definitely reading more! I also will be following this series and wanting to get my hands on the novella as well!😍

The characters in this story were great! I loved Renny and her strength. I found the characters relatable. This story was filled with action, adventure, suspense and some steaminess that will definitely heat you up this winter!

Life just got a little sweeter in the island fishing village of Eastport, Maine. Jacobia “Jake” Tiptree and her best friend Ellie are opening a waterfront bake shop, The Chocolate Moose, where their tasty treats pair perfectly with the salty ocean breeze. But while Jake has moved on from fixing up houses, she still can’t resist the urge to snoop into the occasional murder.

Jake and Ellie have been through a lot together, from home repair to homicide investigation. So when they decide to open a chocolate-themed bakery, they figure it’ll be a piece of cake. With Ellie’s old family recipes luring in customers, they expect to make plenty of dough this Fourth of July weekend. Having family home for the holiday only sweetens the deal for Jake—until the ill wind of an early-season hurricane blows up her plans. When the storm hits, Jake’s grown son Sam is stranded in a Boston bus station, and her husband Wade is stuck on a cargo ship. But as bitter as the storm is, something even more sinister is brewing in the kitchen of The Chocolate Moose—where retired health inspector Alan Blake is found murdered.

Ellie never made a secret of her distaste for Alan, who had been raining on their parade with bogus talk of health code violations. Now, with no alibi for the night of the murder, she’s in a sticky situation with the police—and it’s up to Jake to catch the real killer and keep Ellie living in the land of the free.

I give this book 4.5 out of 5 Delicious Stars!! The reason I picked up this book is because I love a good cozy and the author sounded rather familiar! I must also admit to myself, that I chose this title due to that yummy looking cover! I mean doesn’t this book scream YUUMmmm! After re-reading the premise and starting the story I realized that I have read a few of Sarah Graves’ previous titles in her Home Repair is Homicide series which I loved! I will jump in here and say the main reason I gave it 4.5 stars instead of 5 was because I feel this book should be marketed more as a spin-off because it was very helpful knowing some of the character’s stories before reading this novel. I do think this book could be read on a standalone basis but probably best if you have a feel for things first.

I highly enjoyed this fun murder mystery that was filled with so much adventure! This was exciting and I enjoyed the pace while catching up with some of the characters! I actually loved the characters and the baking gave me the super munchies!

I think this is a great edition to Sarah Graves’s collection of stories! I am sure I will enjoy the following book in this series as well and I am definitely ready for a new adventure!

Thanks for reading my review and this one is Dani-approved!😍

Sarah Graves is the pen name of American mystery and crime novelist Mary Squibb.[1]Based in New York, her Home Repair is Homicide series follows transplanted New Yorker Jacobia “Jake” Tiptree and her friend Ellie White as they solve murders in Eastport, Maine, all while she repairs her centuries-old house. Hello my lovely Book Dragons!🐉📚 I wanted to share with you today a book that was released today, Fill Me by Michelle Hazen. I am excited about this book because it’s the prequel to A Cruel Kind of Beautiful which I read as an ARC and LOVED it. You can find my review HERE!😊 I really enjoy Michelle’s work and she is such awesome chick! I enjoy reading her updates via her newsletter about her new adventures and latest books. You can find all that fantabulous info @ http://michellehazenbooks.com She is unique, kind and has her own custom style. Like Michelle, I use to call the roads my home and was a nomad. You guys know I like to share how I can relate in some way. I can totally relate to being a nomad and even though I am now bed ridden, I travel through my books and everyone’s writings.💖📚

I didn’t have a certain state or a permanent address. I celebrated being a free spirit and the open roads were my home. I lived for meeting new people and experiencing life to the fullest! Since I was institutionalized most of my childhood and I was stuck in a white hospital setting, when I escaped “the system”, I spread my wings and I lived life to the fullest. Some looked down on me and said I was just another “homeless hippie” but for me I was finally just free. You guys know I like to share how I have a connection to the author or the story but back to the book! This is the blurb of her brand spankin’ new release Fill Me!😊 I LOVE this series it’s perfect for the ROCK chick girl, like me!😍🎸🎶✌

Award-winning author Michelle Hazen is a nomad with a writing problem. Years ago, she and her husband ducked out of the 9 to 5 world and moved into their truck. She found her voice with the support of the online fanfiction community, and once she started typing, she never looked back. She has written most of her books in odd places, including a bus in Thailand, an off-the-grid cabin in the Sawtooth Mountains, a golf cart in a sandstorm, a rental car during a heat wave in the Mohave Desert and a beach in Honduras. Even when she’s climbing rocks, riding horses, or getting lost someplace wild and beautiful, there are stories spooling out inside her head, until she finally heeds their call and returns to her laptop and solar panels.

“You’ll love this delightful debut mystery with its charming and wacky cast of characters and a mystery within a mystery just to keep things interesting.”
–Victoria Thompson, bestselling author of Murder in Morningside Heights

“A charming read–with murder, romance and lots of mouthwatering desserts.”
–Laura Levine, author of Death of a Bachelorette

Review: I give this book 5 out of 5 cozy stars! V.M. Burns created a cozy masterpiece! When reading through this book I was so excited and just wanted more! I absolutely loved the characterisation in this book. I loved how the main character(Samantha) went sleuthing with a group on senior citizen ladies! These ladies were a hoot and could out party me any day! I just loved Nana Jo and how she was described as “all of the Golden Girls” wrapped up in one! Her group of friends that her and Samantha tagged along with made me laugh out loud.

I have been in a reading slump lately but was able to gobble this book up regardless of my mood. I also enjoyed how the main character was a writer and took us on another adventure. I felt both stories were well written and I couldn’t wait until I went back and forth to the other one. I can’t wait until I get to read more of V.M. Burns’ works! I definitely recommend this fun and light cozy!😊
