“I need a reason to exist.”

Beautiful, intelligent, independent, strong-willed, wealthy—Lilith Fontenot seems by all appearances, to have it all. But that’s not how the highest paid prostitute in New Orleans sees herself.

A stain on society. A scourge. A waste. Outsider. Prisoner…

Any idyllic dream of the normal life she may have once imagined, Lilith buried long ago. Her only plan now is survival.

But mob boss Nico Santelli and community center owner Soti Christos have not given up on Lilith. Each has his own very specific, very opposing, plans for her, and neither will rest until it becomes a reality.

WHORE is a singularly bracing take on an ancient tale of tireless love, betrayal, and the possibility of redemption.

I give this book 5 out of 5 Completely Blown Away Stars!!! Like holy crap, this book is not what it seems at all.

When you read the blurb and read the beginning of this book it seems like we are going to be swept away in a sweet romance that resembles “Pretty Woman”. You know how it goes, when the guy is in love with the prostitute but she has her guards up and eventually there is all that warm and fuzzy love. Well no, this book goes way beyond the realms of that and is uniquely designed! I could not stop reading this book and read it basically in one sitting. This book was not just a romance but more of a suspense that left you guessing and on edge. Heck at some points my skin was crawling and I had to lay in bed with the lights on to read it. This book even had a bit of mystery to it. Hell, it had it ALL!

I don’t want to give any details away but I am warning you that anyone who’s been in an abusive situation there may be a good bit of triggers for you in this book but it’s really hard to say. I was able to get through it and I have been in many abusive situations but have to admit it made my skin crawl and cringe. I just want to give that warning incase. Besides that for me it was completely worth it and was enthralled by the experience.

I have never read Willow Aster’s work before and now that I have, I will say to her that “I will follow you anywhere.” Whore was a chilling, suspenseful and blissfully romantic masterpiece. The plot was solid and well written. The characters were well described and I absolutely loved them. Soti is my new fictional husband!!!

I just loved the lack of jealousy and the unconditional love portrayed in this book. It really was beautiful. Lililth’s character is just amazing. She is stunning, beautiful, sexy and has no idea of her potential and worth.

She is also such a strong woman and seeing the depths of her soul was incredible.

You guys know I also like to bring my life experiences into my reviews to open up and relate, well this book opened my eyes in so many ways. I was involved in the escort business for years when I was younger. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit this. I was never a prostitute and I am definitely not judging anyone of course but I was in the management part I guess you can say and was an escort driver for many years. I served as protection to the girls and I dealt with the business transactions. I was sweet and caring to the girls I worked with. I still have contact with many of them and many of them were great friends. Unfortunately, I have had been involved in bad situations because of this and have seen my fair share of violence and brokeness. I am not proud of the things I have done but have learned from them to say the least. I don’t know if it was my experiences that made me in more awe of this book but this book really portrays how someone forced into this life lives and feels.

This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster and had me in tears at points but it made me realize a lot. Even if you didn’t think about the prostitution part if you just look at the inner battles that the main characters face, it was beyond intense! Lilith and Soti both battle these insecurites and inner demons that are so realistic and raw that you can’t help but evaluate your own feelings. I was personally blown away by this romantic suspense and can’t wait to check out the author’s other works!!! This book is highly Dani-approved and recommended!

Willow Aster is the author of True L̶o̶v̶e̶ Story (USA Today Bestseller), In the Fields, Maybe Maby, Fade to Red, and Whore.

A Harmless Little Game
Meli Raine
(Harmless, #1)
Publication date: October 18th 2016
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

Four years ago I lost my virginity on live, streaming television.

Too bad I wasn’t awake for it.

The video went viral. Of course it would. A Senator’s daughter on camera? Wouldn’t you click “share”? Besides, that’s what three of the four guys in the video did.

Share.

They shared me.

But that fourth guy? The nondescript one in the background in the upper left corner of the screen, just sitting on the couch? The only one who did nothing?

Not one single thing.

That was my boyfriend, Drew.

And that was the last time I saw him.

Until today, when my father—now on a path to the White House—hired him as head of security for my new team as I return home after four years of “recovering” in an undisclosed location that involved white lab coats, needles, pills and damage control.

You see, the other three guys never went to jail. Never had charges pressed.

Never faced consequences.

Until today.

Game on.

A Harmless Little Game is the first in this political thriller/romantic suspense trilogy by USA Today bestselling author Meli Raine.

EXCERPT:

Short, clipped chestnut hair. Brown eyes the color of well-worn leather, eyes that blaze with intelligence and a guardedness no one could ever breach. He’s bigger than the last time I saw him, four years ago. Broader. More muscular. He’s a controlled, contained man who has a James Bond air to him.

And he’s looking at me right now with eyes so cold they might as well be icebergs.

“Lindsay, let me introduce you to Andrew,” Stacia starts.

Drew. Oh, God, it’s true.

“Andrew Foster will be your new security specialist. He and his team will keep you safe.”

I snort.

He stares.

Stacia’s eyes leap from Drew to me and back. “Is there a problem?” she asks, brows turning down. That’s more emotion than I’ve seen in her for four years. Her gaze darts between me and Drew, assessing the situation. No matter what, I lose if she decides something’s going sour here.

Even if Drew is the one gone bad.

“No.” Drew and I say the word at the exact same moment, in the same tone of voice. It sounds like a sharp clap, a single sound that shatters noise.

“You two know each other?” Stacia asks, her fingers caressing the paper. Without that discharge form, I can’t leave. If Drew ruins this for me, it will be the second time in my life he’s fucked up.

The first time was four years ago when he let three of our friends rape me.

Title: Better Dead (A B & B Spirits Mystery #1)

Author: Pamela Kopfler

☆~Available For Sale Today~☆

As the owner of a charming Louisiana bed and breakfast, Holly Davis believes in Southern hospitality–but she draws the line at welcoming the ghost of her cheating husband . . .

Burl Davis checked out of this life a little earlier than expected–before Holly could serve him with divorce papers over his extramarital flings. Unfortunately, it was not before he nearly bankrupted her beloved B&B, Holly Grove, a converted plantation that has been in her family for generations. Holly would never wish anyone dead, but three months later she’s feeling a lot more relief than grief.
Until Burl’s ghost appears as an unwelcome guest. Before his spirit can move on, her not-so-dearly departed needs Holly’s human help to bust up the drug smuggling ring he was involved with. She has reservations, to say the least, but agrees to assist him if he’ll make a show of haunting the B&B to draw in visitors. But when Holly’s former love, Jack McCann, mysteriously resurfaces in town and checks in, she has to wonder if her B&B is big enough for the ghost of her husband and the very real physical presence of her old flame . . .

I give this book 5 out of 5 Fun-tastic Stars! Like most books I have read that have been published by Kensington Books this one was just awesome! I am so excited to see this author’s future works and just loved how fun and well written this book was. The author first pulled me into this book by the sweet and charming setting of a plantation B & B in Louisiana. There was even parts that described the different uses of different rooms and parts of the family owned plantation. The fictional history was fun and enticing. The plot of this story was solid and flowed perfectly together. I loved the characterisation in this book. Holly was a hot mess at times but so funny and relatable.

Her relationship and interactions with Burl were absolutely hilarious.

Even though he was a ghost it felt like a realistic relationship. Jake and Holly’s romance was sweet. I know the blurb says Jack but his name was Jake. That’s the only error and that was in the blurb so I don’t think that counts!😉 Nelda was my favorite! She was Laugh Out Loud hilarious. Her personality was original and just made Holly Grove that much better! Her reactions to Burl was just too funny!

The book focused more on the mystery of the story and the paranormal aspects.

This story surprised me when it kind of turned into a whodunit mystery and I just love a good whodunit. I mean a whodunit on a plantation and some supernatural fun involved! Heck yes!

Overall I couldn’t recommend this book enough if you’re looking for something fun or a nice cozy to cuddle up with this is the book for you. Better Dead had everything I was looking for plus more and can’t wait to find out what happens next!!!😄

Title: Escape Claws (A Cat Lady Mystery #1)

Author: Linda Reilly

☆~Available For Sale Today~☆

Here, killer, killer, killer . . .

For the first time in sixteen years, Lara Caphart has returned to her hometown of Whisker Jog, New Hampshire. She wants to reconnect with her estranged Aunt Fran, who’s having some difficulty looking after herself—and her eleven cats. Taking care of a clowder of kitties is easy, but keeping Fran from being harassed by local bully Theo Barnes is hard. The wealthy builder has his sights set on Fran’s property, and is determined to make her an offer she doesn’t dare refuse.

Then Lara spots a blue-eyed ragdoll cat that she swears is the reincarnation of her beloved Blue, her childhood pet. Pursuing the feline to the edge of Fran’s yard, she stumbles upon the body of Theo Barnes, clearly a victim of foul play. To get her and Fran off the suspect list, Lara finds herself following the cat’s clues in search of a killer. Is Blue’s ghost really trying to help her solve a murder, or has Lara inhaled too much catnip?

I give this book 5 out of 5 Purrrrfect Stars!!! I just adored this book!😄 The author did such a great job fullfilling my “crazy cat lady” needs!

Well I love all animals but have 5 cats 1 dog and 2 turtles so reading this book was blissful! Since I have rescued and foster animals this book really pulled at the strings of my heart.

This wasn’t your typical cozy mystery that has the sweet romance subplot while we figure out who killed the victim. This boon more focused on family, finding yourself and the love of the feline friends.

I really enjoyed Lara and Aunt Fran’s characterisation. I loved there genuine good souls and their love for animals.

I could relate to Lara in a sense and felt she was a good choice for a main character. I also really enjoyed that there was a bit of supernatural aspects thrown in the story.

The cats’ different personalities were great and I know from experience that cats and other animals do have their own personalities. If you are a feline lover or looking for a nice cozy I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next Cat Lady Mystery series!

I hope everyone had a joyous holiday and their Christmas was filled with joy!😄🎄🎁🤗 I was sick yesterday but gobbled up these two cozies and it made my day much better!!! I hope everyone is enjoying their week and Happy Reading lovelies!😄📚💖🎊🎁❄☃🕎

I give this book 5 out of 5 Political Thriller Stars! I really enjoyed this book and with it being told from an author with experience in politics mad it that much better! I usually don’t read political thrillers but love all fiction and was definitely intrigued by the thought of a rock star going into politics and I wasn’t let down. The characters were enjoyable and well written. The plot was also solid and 5 star worthy! This book had me flipping pages through the night and was full of scandals and corruption.

I will definitely be checking out the author’s future works and more of this genre! Dani-approved and highly recommended!

How My Christmas Turned Out To Be Amazing

Hey lovelies! As many of you know it’s been a rough time for me lately with my physical and emotional health in turmoil. I also have been battling to overcome some recent trauma and family issues. With all that and being stuck on bed rest because of all the seizures and injuries I have received recently, I just wanted to state that my life is blessed and totally worth it. After much time of reflection and emotions even to the point of suicidal thoughts, I had a sort of an epiphany. Well I had much encouragement along the way thanks to Kim aka My Book Sister, Trang aka My Blogger Babe Crush, Michel💖, Pete, Adrienne, Fraggle, Sophie and many more of you, I was able to get through this and see how truly blessed I am. Not only do I finally have a support system thanks to all of you guys and I’m sorry I couldn’t list you all because there are so many of you and you all are so amazing but I have finally been able to get in the holiday spirit!!! Yay!

After all this reflection, I let a lot go. I let go some of the pain and anxiety. For once, I finally really enjoyed seeing my children be happy. Of course, I always want them happy but I am always thinking about the “what ifs” and worrying about them instead of truly enjoying it.

I don’t go to church but there is a church right next to my house. I was sitting at home worrying how was I going to pay for my kids to have a good Christmas for my kids and how was I even going to pay for the medication I needed to keep me alive. I felt so overwhelmed that I felt like I was suffocating. I was to the point of asking God “Why do you let this keep happening to me?”. Well the pastor of the church by my house randomly stopped by and asked us if we wanted a big box of food and I accepted and was very thankful for his kindness and this warmed my heart some but still didn’t know what I was going to do but at least my kids were going to be fed.

Well the same pastor comes back to my house and he brings us gift cards equaling to about 400$ USD in gift cards for Walmart and he had certain ones for the kids and even one for us adults so we could get stuff we needed.

I literally broke down with my thankfulness to this unknown man. I was able to get my kids the gifts they wanted and was able to get the necessities I needed for my house;laundry soap, toliet paper and etc. I felt so overwhelmed with emotions and finally felt hope, after so long. To make things even better a close friend said he would help and pay for my mandatory expensive medication! I still have pending doom financially and have other meds I need but my mandatory and at the moment needs were met! Yay! I was over the moon! I mean, I have never been blessed like this before and just couldn’t believe it. I found hope. Through my debilitating pain and my scary circumstances I finally had hope. I looked at my children and my heart expanded even more. My daughter Zoey has been helping me and telling me how much she loves me. I even told her “I’m sorry I’m so weird” and she cut me off with a big hug saying “You’re not too weird for me.” My son Gabriel has been giving me hugs several times a day telling me “I hope you feel better Mommy.” My youngest Vincent just tugged at the strings of my heart. He was close by when I had a bad seizure and he freaked out and someone took him out of the room while it was happening. He screamed and kicked everyone until he was allowed to come and see for his self that I was alright and then he hugged me and rubbed my back all at 2 years old.

I know this post might be all sappy and I don’t want to bring anybody down. What I am really trying to say that through everything I found hope and my children’s love carried me through with their amazing LOVE! I was blessed with a way to give them an AMAZING Christmas but I also have been blessed with all of your support. For the first time in years, I am truly excited for Christmas tomorrow and I hope that each and every one of you has a great holiday whatever that may be! I thank you for reading my post and I’m sorry if I mixed things up I’m a tad emotional, but thank you so much for all your support and believing I would make it through because I finally am making it!😄🎁📚💖

Yesterday the kids opened gifts from their grandmothers and other assorted family. I wanted to share these photos of them and show you what has fullfilled my heart and has given me pure happiness. Please everyone have a safe and a Merry Christmas!🎄💖🎁🎀

I give this book 5 out of 5 Hope Driven Stars! Okay I am going to start out saying, this book was just sweet and amazing! I personally have faith and I am an open minded Christian but I was still a little skeptical at first with this book. I thought I hope it’s not a book where it has those judgemental kind of Christians or that it would be your generic boy meets girl. I am telling you I couldn’t have been more wrong. This book was intense at moments and had so much depth to it. This book was also so realistic.

Drew and Allison were both broken people and they felt hopeless and at times they even blamed God for it all.

Seeing how the story ended up and how intense things got, I personally felt more hope with my circumstances. I have been asking God “Why???? Haven’t I suffered enough?”. Well reading this story it truly helped me see that I shouldn’t give up hope. This book also showed that people shouldn’t judge and we are good enough.

This story was well written and I loved the romance. There wasn’t instant love. It took Drew time and it showed his grief. I’m glad the author decided to show that someone just couldn’t instantly fall in love after losing their spouse because grief just takes time.

All around, I couldn’t recommend this book enough. The passion and depth that is woven through these pages created a masterpiece and will surely give you hope. This was one of those books that will stick with you long after reading it.

I hope everyone has a blessed holiday weekend!📚💖🎁🎄❄🎀

Janell Butler Wojtowicz, born and raised on an Iowa farm, was one of those kids who loved to write the dreaded “What I did on summer vacation” essay. She wrote stories for her own enjoyment, including a short story about a teenage drug addict—something of which she knew nothing about. Her cousin illustrated the cover using Halloween orange paper featuring a hypodermic needle.

Janell attended the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota, earning a bachelor’s degree in, naturally, Written Communication, adding a Journalism Emphasis. She returned to Iowa where she worked as a reporter/editor at three small town newspapers for 10 years.

Janell left the small town Iowa life when she married, Frank Wojtowicz, a family friend who lived in Minneapolis. (By the way, her Polish last name is pronounced “Why-tow-vitch.) She worked in public relations at her alma mater, the University of Northwestern; Leadership Foundations, a nonprofit organization supporting inner-city Christian ministries; and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Today, Janell owns a freelance service, A Portrait in Words, and is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Romance Writers of America.

Much of Janell’s writing has been the “people stories” of trial, tragedy and triumph, which are reflected in her debut novel, “Embracing Hope.” The idea for the novel came after watching a BBC version of “Jane Eyre” in 2007. That night she dreamed the beginning, pivotal scene in the middle and the ending of “Embracing Hope”, and began writing it the next day. Unlike her first story, she was very familiar with the setting of “Embracing Hope”: a Christian college campus.

She and Frank, live in New Brighton, Minnesota, a pleasant suburb of the Twin Cities. She has two step-sons, a step-daughter-in-law, and three step-granddaughters.

EXCERPT:

When fighting, I think about nothing but the moment. There’s no room for obsessing over the Assassins, being depressed over Brooks, or mad at Shea for wanting to leave. There’s only my opponent and me. Defeat or be defeated. I want to drag out the fight, use it as an escape. Some people revert to alcohol and drugs for escape, I use ass-kicking.

“I’ll take you down even with my gimp arm and without using pressure points,” I say.

Shawn’s smile spreads. “Ooohh, them’s fightin’ words. That’s a lot of talk for a buck-ten shorty.”

As I re-wrap my gloves, I gaze at Shawn with a wicked grin. “You forget who you’re talking to.” Shawn might have more muscle in his one bicep than I do in both of mine combined, but I can still beat him. It’s all about physics, about knowing how to use one’s weight to one’s own advantage. This is going to be fun.

I finish strapping on my gear and join Shawn in the ring. Paramore blares through the speakers and the recruits shout encouragement at us. We meet in the center and tap knuckles. Shawn gives me a wink. I laugh.

We dance around each other––backs rounded, chins down, guards up––waiting for the other to strike. Shawn is skilled and with his strength, he could knock me out with one good strike. He’s also much slower than I and tends to tire out faster. Even with working myself harder in warm-up, I have better stamina than him.

He throws a right jab. I easily dodge out of the way, light on my toes. Next he throws a combo: right jab, left hook and round house. I sidestep the jab, knock the hook away and duck under the roundhouse. I take advantage of him being on one leg and sweep his stationary leg out from under him. Shawn falls to his back with a thud, his eyes wide. I let him jump back to his feet. Although I could have, I’m not ready to end it.

Ten minutes later, Shawn’s breathing is labored. We’ve both gotten some hits in, but nothing either of us can’t recover from quickly. I see my next opening when he throws a hook followed with a spinning back kick. Not the smartest move when you’re already winded, so really, he deserves what’s coming.

As soon as Shawn’s back is to me I throw a hard kick to the back of his knee sending him to the floor in mid-kick. I jump on his back and initiate a rear naked choke hold. My arm is wrapped around his neck, under his chin, and secured into place with the other one so I don’t slip off from the sweat. My wound burns like hell, but I refuse to give up. I have him. I push his head into the crook of my arm and squeeze tighter. My arms look like a milky cobra against his dark skin.

“You better tap,” I say, out of breath. “I have no problem putting you to sleep, big guy.”

Shawn grunts, struggling to get free. I add more pressure until he finally taps. I release him and collapse on my back next to him.

“Good workout,” I say, and slap him on the shoulder. “I told you that you had no chance today.”

“Damn, girl,” Shawn says between breaths. “I feel sorry for whoever pissed you off. By the way, you’re bleeding through.”

I look at the bandage on my arm. A red blotch is staining the white cloth.

“Great, probably busted a stitch.”

“I’m trying not to gain any satisfaction from it.” He rubs his head. “If I have to lose, at least I know it’s hard on you.”

My music suddenly stops in the middle of a song. I lift my head to see Shea standing at the radio. Shea and I glare at each other for a moment. Ugh, why can’t she just follow the rules? Yeah it sucks sometimes. Brooks’s hurt eyes flash in my mind and pain explodes in my heart again. Really sucks. But that’s how it is in our world. Breaking the gaze, I get up and peel off my sparring gear.

Shawn whistles a long note, looking from Shea to me and back again. “Now that’s a fight I wouldn’t mind seein’. You all are pissed.” He chuckles. “Chick fights are hot. Can we throw in some mud? Or oil?” He nods his head. “Definitely oil.”

“Shut up, Shawn!” Shea says, rolling her eyes.

“I’m just sayin’. It would make you feel better if you hashed it out.” He spreads his hands and shrugs his large shoulders. “Well, at least it would make me feel better.”

“Shawn,” I warn.

“Can’t blame a brother for tryin’.”

As I grab a bottled water from the gym fridge, Shea and I continue to ignore one another. I head for the door, glancing down at my bleeding arm. After my shower, I’ll need to make a stop at the infirmary. I step out the door and almost run smack into Carol Breakenridge, head of the Europe DWD. She brushes off her jacket like I ruined it. Her blond hair is pulled away from her face, accentuating her angular features and large blue eyes.

I back away from her. “Sorry, ma’am.”

She crosses her arms across her chest. “Yes, you should be,” she says in a clipped tone heavy with a French accent.

“It was an accident,” I reply in a less friendly way. “I didn’t see you.” Head or not, between being ignored earlier and my all-around crappy day, I’m about out of patience.

“I was referring to that display in there,” she says raising her chin at the gym. “Why did you not finish him when you had the chance?” She apparently watched the fight and must have seen when I let Shawn get up. “You should never hold back your strengths. If you do, you may die.”

We were just training, working out. It’s not like we were in a real fight. Even though I’m annoyed with her overreaction, I nod and give her the respect I should. “I’m sorry, ma’am. I would have done better had I known you were watching.”

She drops her voice to a whisper, and raises a perfectly waxed brow, “Dear Jade, you are always being watched,” she smiles slyly. “Analyzed. Your actions may affect more than just you.” She turns and walks away, leaving me with an uneasy feeling. I’ll be more than glad when the Heads leave.

Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Being the drummer for the hottest new rock band should’ve been a dream come true. Sold out shows, women, more money than I deserved…

But I didn’t want any of it.

The fame sucked, the money was a burden and I’d given away my only chance at ever having her—my best friend’s sister.

I wasn’t supposed to touch her. My best friend made me swear I wouldn’t. Then he was deployed, and he told me to look out for her. Except being around her while still keeping my distance was slowly killing me. Touring with the band should’ve been the perfect escape… Until I fucked up.

I fucked up so bad, she was half-conscious in my arms, fighting for her life.

* BENNETT is the fourth standalone book in the Uncompromising Series.

The Uncompromising Series:

ANDRE

BENNETT

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

EXCERPT:

I backed her against the wall and took her face in my hands. “I’m not leaving you alone.”

Her breath hitched, and her hands wrapped around my wrists, but she didn’t say anything.

I gripped her harder. “You’re not alone, you hear me? You will never be alone. I’m always going to be here for you. Always.”

Her grief, her tears, the tension in her muscles—it all stilled.

Then she stood on tiptoe and her lips landed on mine.

First shock, then eight years of blind fucking need surged, and I let loose. Growling with repressed desire and want, so much fucking want, I roared as I slammed my body against hers and shoved my tongue into her mouth.

Sweet fucking Jesus.

My hands tangling in her hair, my tongue dominating, I didn’t kiss her. I fucking took.

I took her kiss.

I took her grief.

And I took her fucking trust.

For one unbelievable moment, I had everything I’d ever wanted.

Everything.

My cock surged, my hips ground into hers, and I kissed her how I’d always wanted to. Then reality hit and I destroyed everything.

I ripped my undeserving mouth from hers and stepped back. Shattering her illusion of who I was, I rubbed the back of my hand over my mouth and prayed like fuck I didn’t break her worse. “I’m sorry.”

Author Bio:

Sybil Bartel grew up in Northern California with her head in a book and her feet in the sand. She dreamt of becoming a painter but the heady scent of libraries with their shelves full of books drew her into the world of storytelling. She loves the New Adult genre, but any story about a love so desperately wrong and impossibly beautiful makes her swoon.

Sybil now resides in Southern Florida and while she doesn’t get to read as much as she likes, she still buries her toes in the sand. If she isn’t writing or fighting to contain the banana plantation in her backyard, you can find her spending time with her handsomely tattooed husband, her brilliantly practical son and a mischievous miniature boxer…

But Seriously?

Here are ten things you probably really want to know about Sybil.

She grew up a faculty brat. She can swear like a sailor. She loves men in uniform. She hates being told what to do. She can do your taxes (but don’t ask). The Bird Market in Hong Kong freaks her out. Her favorite word is desperate…or dirty, or both—she can’t decide. She has a thing for muscle cars. But never reply on her for driving directions, ever. And she has a new book boyfriend every week—don’t tell her husband.

My Review of Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant

*Pic from my #Bookstagram

Hey there, what’s up my peoples??!!! I hope everyone is doing lovely this fine Friday! Getting laid, getting paid and having a good day!😎 That’s right, so I read this book and Holy Cow! Well you will see the review.😉 Chhhyeaaahh..

Blurby blurb:

Seven years ago, the Atargatis set off on a voyage to the Mariana Trench to film a “mockumentary” bringing to life ancient sea creatures of legend. It was lost at sea with all hands. Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a maritime tragedy.

Now, a new crew has been assembled. But this time they’re not out to entertain. Some seek to validate their life’s work. Some seek the greatest hunt of all. Some seek the truth. But for the ambitious young scientist Victoria Stewart this is a voyage to uncover the fate of the sister she lost.

Whatever the truth may be, it will only be found below the waves. But the secrets of the deep come with a price.

So this is where I break it down for you… This book was wild and horror filled! Say what??!! Like when I think of mermaids I’m thinking of Ariel chillin with Sebastian and Flounder and all that happy shizit. *sings “Under the Sea”*….Well squash that music you know your playing in your head because these mermaids are crazy asf! Well thanks to Mira Grant I will never look at mermaids the same.

See what I mean creepy as hell… This book was fun and I enjoyed the characters but things didn’t add up sometimes. The inconsistencies were a buzz kill at some moments but this was an ARC so you got to let some of that slide sometimes and go with the flow…😉 Well I definitely recommend this book though, I mean you get crazy ass mermaids and lack of sleep.

Do I think they found mermaids?

Yes. Of course I do.

And I think the mermaids ate them all.

I mean… Well shit… That text says it all. Nom Nom Nom… So I give this book 4 out of 5 chilling stars. I definitely recommend this book and think you horror junkies out there will love it. I mean, what is there not to love about killer mermaids???!!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review! You guys rock!😄

Strictly Business
Siena Noble
(The Loft #2)
Publication date: December 22nd 2017
Genres: Erotica, Romance

It’s been almost nine months since the grand opening of The Loft, and it’s quickly become one of the city’s best-kept dirty little secrets. On the outside, the club’s owner Teresa Bodnar is living the dream: young, successful, and miles away from the nightmarish relationship she escaped from nearly two years ago. But on the inside? That’s another story.

After agonizing months of suppressing her true feelings, it took one passion-filled night for Tera to realize that she was in love with her friend, the deliciously dominant Eric Yun, a revelation that had her running scared. Months later, the two are closer than ever… and yet they couldn’t be further apart. Feeling that keeping both Eric and herself in the dreaded “friend-zone” is the only way to save the man she loves from worse pain, Tera throws herself into her work, determined to turn The Loft into the BDSM paradise she envisioned it as, even if she’s the only one in the club not getting any.

Enter Neal Drake. Rich, arrogant, and the kind of man who doesn’t take no for an answer, Mr. Drake is everything that Tera is desperate to avoid. He turns up at her club with offers of both a business and a personal nature that Tera would be hard-pressed to refuse, but along with his tempting offers he brings something much darker: eerie, painful reminders of a past she’d rather forget…

Ever since they met, Eric has only had eyes for Tera Bodnar. Too stubborn to move on despite his better judgment, he’ll take what he can get from the woman he’s fallen in love with. But he’s determined to be part of the happy ending he knows she deserves, even if she doesn’t believe it herself. Nothing will deter him from his goal, not even some billionaire bastard invading the safe haven that The Loft is supposed to be.

When Mr. Drake begins exerting his dominance outside of acceptable boundaries, Tera must confront her deepest fears, and it’s not just her heart that’s at stake. Friendships will be tested, limits will be pushed, and Tera will have to decide between taking a chance on love, and letting go of Eric forever…

**This book is the second in The Loft series and should be read after Whip Smart.**

EXCERPT:

Tera

I’d been on edge all night wondering if Neal Drake was going to turn up at The Loft, and cursed myself mentally for acting like I expected Kellan himself to make an appearance. But there was no helping that constant low simmer of dread in my stomach, and I wasn’t doing myself any favors by torturing myself with frequent furtive glances over at Eric.

Something had happened at the bar after I’d left, I could tell; he’d been as carefree as ever earlier, completely in his element with his skilled hands on the keys and a sexy half-smirk on his lips that I could pretend was meant for me. But since he’d arrived at the club tension had been on him like a heavy winter coat, and his tight smiles and stiff posture only added to my own unease. I’d fully expected him to take the opportunity to work out that tension by immersing himself in his other natural element, finding some willing sub to tie up and have his way with. But Eric was in total dungeon monitor-mode tonight, his rope bag sitting neglected in the corner as he observed the room with quiet seriousness and made surprisingly little small talk. Relief coursed through me briefly when I saw him turn down one of the girls who I figured was one of his regular play partners, only for a healthy dose of guilt to get sprinkled in with the roiling stew of dread.

I let out a short sigh and dug my teeth into my lower lip. There you go again, making it all about you when he clearly has something on his mind and all your problems are the same old news as always, I scolded myself. Eric looked over at me before I could hide my grimace, and I felt my cheeks heat as something subtle about his already-perturbed face changed that I couldn’t quite read.

Should I go talk to him? I gnawed at my lip as I debated whether or not to breach my self-imposed “no deep, personal conversations at play parties” policy, realizing belatedly that I’d been staring blankly in Eric’s direction and smearing lipstick all over my teeth for at least a good thirty seconds. I snapped myself out of it and quickly scrubbed my tongue over my teeth behind pursed lips. No, better to save any questions about his sudden brooding for a quick text tomorrow after we’d both gotten plenty of sleep and were safely removed from the sexually-charged atmosphere of the club.

The rest of the night went by almost agonizingly slowly, my gut churning with anxiety more and more as the hours ticked by, until I almost felt physically queasy. By the time we closed the doors to new patrons at 1:00 Mr. Drake still hadn’t shown up, but the reassurance that I wouldn’t be seeing him that night did little to calm my nerves.

The last stragglers cleared out fairly quickly after 2:00, and clean-up took hardly any time at all. The group of us—minus Megan, who was working the night shift at the hospital—all walked to the nearby parking garage together. I hesitated as I said goodbye to Eric as I got off the elevator on the floor where I’d parked, wanting to hold him back just a minute longer to ask what was on his mind. But I held back, telling myself that a real friend would just let him go home and go to bed.

I let out the same mixed sigh of relief and heartache that I always did at the end of another night at the club deprived of what only Eric could give me, and rummaged around in my coat pockets for my keys and parking ticket. Shit, where was my ticket?

“Motherfucker,” I cursed under my breath as annoyance flashed through me and threatened to dredge up my earlier anxiety once again. I allowed myself an exaggerated growl of frustration knowing that no one was around to hear me and hurried back to the elevator. I scanned the ground as I hurried back in the direction of The Loft, searching futilely for my lost ticket. There was still a chance it had fallen out of my pocket somewhere in the club, though.

By the time I made it back to The Loft, my anxiety had morphed into general grouchiness, aggravated by the fact that the wind had picked up, rendering my skirt and thigh-high socks all but useless at protecting my legs against the biting cold. Thank God my parking ticket was on the floor of the office; at least the trip had been worth the trouble. I looked around the main dungeon one last time before leaving again, feeling like I was forgetting something else. Eric’s gear bag in the corner by the snack bar caught my eye. I frowned as I took out my phone to text him that I’d found it. Eric of all people would never neglect his rope like that; he must’ve had more on his mind than I’d thought. As I hoisted the heavy bag onto my shoulder, I noticed that a full trash bag had somehow been forgotten as well. Good lord, how distracted had I been that I’d overlooked so much myself?

With a groan, I picked up the trash and headed back down to the first floor and out the back door to the narrow alley where the dumpster was. I had to set the massive duffle bag on the ground to lift the lid of the dumpster enough to dump the trash in. I let the lid fall again with a loud, rattling crash and crouched to pick up the bag, determined to get out of the creepy alley and back to my car as quickly as possible, only to stumble and fall flat on my ass at the sight of a pair of feet on the other side of Eric’s bag that hadn’t been there before.

I was on my own feet again in a second, my heart fluttering erratically as I heaved the bag onto my shoulder and got a look at the guy who’d managed to sneak up on me. He was a young, scrawny guy, probably younger than me, with lank blondish hair and wearing a stained gray hoodie.

He snickered. “What’s in the bag, sweetheart?” he taunted softly.

Oh, shit…

Book Review: A Tale of Two Mommies

I want to thank NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review. I appreciate this opportunity and all views and opinions expressed are my own.

A Tale of Two Mommies is a beach conversation among three children. One boy asks another boy about having two mommies. A young girl listening in asks some questions too.

True to a child’s curiosity, practical questions follow. “Which mom is there when you want to go fishing? / Which mom helps out when Kitty goes missing?” To which he answers: “Mommy helps when I want to go fishing. / Both Mommies help when Kitty goes missing.”

A Tale of Two Mommies is intended for 4-8 year olds.

This book lets us look inside one non-traditional family, a same sex couple and their son. As the children talk, it’s clear this boy lives in a nurturing environment where the biggest issues are the everyday challenges of growing up.

I give this book 5 out of 5 Friggin’ Cute Stars! Omgosh! This book was so cute! As some may know, I am part of an LGBT+ family so my children have 2 mommies and this was the perfect read for kids to better understand being part of a diverse family! I couldn’t sleep yet again, so I saw this cute little gem was on NetGalley as a “Read Now”. I read it excitedly and just fell in LOVE! The illustrations went great with the adorable little story and I can’t wait to read this book to my children tomorrow! The way the little boy main character explains his momma and mommy is so adorable! My almost 2 year old calls me “mommy” and my baby momma Andrea “momma” even though she likes to call me “the vagina mom”😂 so I could just relate to this cute little story and it was so freakin’ adorable. I recommend this book to diverse or open-minded families.

I hope everyone has a lovely holiday weekend!💖📚🎄⛄💯
