Eventually, as bonds deepen among the conspirators, Glen too discovers he has a lot more at stake than simply the loot. This cast of lively eccentrics discover along the way that getting to the big payoff might just be more scary fun than the monetary prize itself.

Review: I give this book 2 out 5 stars. I hate more than anything writing a negative review! I am always try to be the most enthusiastic person I can be! This book wasn’t terrible and the plot was good, it was just the execution and characters didn’t do well for me. I just felt like it was overplayed and it kept reminding me of films and shows I’ve already seen. The similarities with other con shows/films threw me off base. I think this book will do really well for some people and can have a large fan base. It was just not the book for me but was okay. I enjoyed some of the action scenes and how descriptive the writer was. I just really didn’t do well with the characterization. I still would like to check out more of the author’s works because there was a lot of great writing potential. I was so conflicted on writing this review because I wanted to love it but the characters bugged me too much. I am thankful for this opportunity to review for my honest opinion and do believe this book will still get a great fan base.

I want to thank Nick Rester for gifting me an ARC of Darlings from an Instagram Giveaway. All opinions and views expressed are my own.

Darlings follows the final months of the young adults born with the Iris disease. This rare disease causes its victims to be born physically flawless, but curses them with a twenty-two-year lifespan. At the end of their lives, they gather under one roof in New York City to live out their dreams. Fey Davis is the youngest of the Irises and he soon becomes obsessed with Marcy Darling–the leader of the group. Marcy has everything he’s ever wanted in a girl: strength, confidence, and fierce beauty. But why did he have to meet her so late in his life? As their time comes to an end, Fey experiences love and fame for the first time. Lost in the throes of existential terror, Fey and his new friends count the minutes to their deaths. Gossip Girl meets Gone Girl in this brutal romance.

Review: I give this book 5 out of 5 Unique Stars! When I read this book a few weeks ago I devoured it! Yes, Yes I know I’m a tad behind on my reviews, guilty as charged!🤤 But anyways, I was surprised by the intensity and how much this book sucked me in! Some scenes might trigger some folks but overall this was an awesome and unique book!

I enjoy going to a “what if world” where things might be more dystopian. I felt completely hooked from this brutal romance and it made me feel so many different types of emotions!

I loved Fey and Marcy’s characterization. While reading this book it sucks you in and makes your heart race with the need for wanting to know more! I’m glad I picked up this title and would recommend it to YA readers.

I hope everyone has a marvelous day!

Book Blurb:

Magazine editor Geneva Jones has been sent on a trans-Atlantic cruise to help secure a major advertising agreement from the CEO of the cruise line Rachel Atkinson, but her efforts to win her over are curtailed by a mysterious crew death. Geneva suspects foul play. Rachel insists its suicide. A former investigative journalist, Geneva can’t resist digging deeper, but what she finds is far more devastating. There’s an Ebola outbreak on the ship, everyone is trapped aboard and Rachel is trying to keep it secret.

Geneva knows enough about Ebola to be terrified, but she’s also onto the biggest story of her career. Rachel turns Geneva’s own colleagues against her when she tries to investigate, so she enlists the help of her son, Aaron Atkinson, whom Rachel adopted from Uganda seven years ago, when he was a teenager. Now an isolated and vaguely broken adult, he’s an easily manipulated source. At least that’s what Geneva thought. Off the coast of Bermuda, with the ship anchored in quarantine, Aaron makes a public announcement informing passengers of the outbreak.

Panic surges through the ship. People begin jumping overboard, ignoring a ship-wide lockdown. The ship’s security start to lose control, tasering passengers indiscriminately. A mayday is declared in front of the world’s media, but Bermuda refuses to open its maritime border. The ship limps toward Miami, with more than half of everyone aboard sick. Rachel shocks everyone by resigning after a public lounge is converted into an apocalyptic triage clinic. Geneva has lost her story, Ebola can’t be treated on-board and the nearest help is more than 3,000 miles away.

Review: Wow what a thrilling and fantastic book! I give this book 4 out of 5 thrilling stars! While reading this book I was on the edge of my seat and so anxious to figure out what was going to happen next! The reason I am not giving this book 5 stars is because I was a bit confused in the beginning and wasn’t sure what was going on at first. This probably could have just been me but overall this was a great read! This book was filled with twists and turns that I didn’t see coming! There is action in this book from beginning until end! I highly recommend this book!

I did a little bit of buddy reading with Adrienne @ Darque Dreamer Reads and we both agreed that we will never step foot on a cruise ship after reading this thrilling book!😰😰😰

Here’s the listed schedule of the blog tour hosts and when their reviews will be placed for this book! Happy Reading!

I am very happy to feature the blog of the lovely Dani, short for Danielle. She is a bookaholic, and a prolific reviewer and promoter of new books online.

Book Review: Everything You Wanted to Know About Watergate

Comments 25 Standard

I want to thank NetGalley and Riverdale Avenue Books for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review. I appreciate this opportunity.

Book Blurb:

The story of Watergate is usually told through the prism of the straight, white male journalists and politicians who were at the center of the scandal—but Watergate happened to all of us – wives, mothers, children, black, white, queer, immigrants. Those voices and perceptions are rarely heard today.

EVERYTHING YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT WATERGATE was envisioned as a book that looks at the wider ripples of the Watergate explosion and how it changed the way Americans saw themselves, their country and the world around them.

This is both a serious, and irreverent book, put together by a team of two newspaper journalists and ten college interns from throughout the country. Think of it as a primer on Watergate for the generation that grew up watching The Daily Show.

Review: I give this book 4 out of 5 Political Stars! I decided to pick up this title because I wanted to know more about what happened with the Watergate scandal. I am glad I made this choice, not only because this book was very informative but because I was able to hear stories and see perspectives from people who lived through it and were impacted by this scandal. I loved hear everyone’s stories and how it effected our lives and how this changed America. I thought this was a great quick but effective read because a lot of the things that were discussed seems to be repeating themselves in our current political state. Even though I may not have agreed with everyone’s perspective I enjoyed seeing everyone’s and learning more about this treacherous scandal. This period of time woke up a lot of Americans and showed them that we can’t always trust our political leaders.

But when Brian’s friends doubt he’ll succeed in scoring her as his prom date, bets start flying, and she turns into a prize to be won.

She doesn’t have the time or the energy to deal with the arrogant and pesky Brian Royland, who is suddenly determined to get her out on a date.

It only takes six weeks for them to realize they have both experienced great loss. Surrounded by mayhem and high school drama – could they be the key to each other’s healing?

Review: I give this book 5 out of 5 sweet stars! I will have to admit when I agreed to read this book I was skeptical especially since it was a teenager love story. I was scared it would just be the usual cliche boy meets girl but I couldn’t be more wrong. I Dare You To Love Me by Becca Fox was so much more than that. I also met Becca in the blogosphere and liked her as a person so was scared that if I had to write a negative review I would be devastated. Thank God, when I read this book I was utterly pleased. Becca Fox created a sensational, unpredictable and heartwarming romance that I won’t soon forget. I loved how well written this story was and how the character’s stories unfold.

I am so glad I picked up I Dare You To Love Me and can’t wait until the next novel Mrs. Fox has in store for us! If you are looking for something sweet, that will make you tear up, has twists and turns and is unpredictable I would recommend reading this book!

Becca Fox was that strange girl in high school, who always seemed to have her nose in a book. She didn’t talk much because, more often than not, she was daydreaming about different fantasy worlds. During class, under the guise of taking notes, she wrote scenes for her works in progress.

Becca is a bit more social now but still enjoys reading, writing, and daydreaming. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband, a fat orange tabby cat, and a forever-puppy.
