Hugs! I think I told you that my first book I read by him was Carrie. I was 14 and was instantly hooked. And then when my dad died two years later, well for some reason all I read or re-read were his books. I was so angry and scared and I’m not sure why but his books brought me comfort. Weird huh?

We all have our quirks! I think that’s an understandable way to cope. You went to a twisted reality so you didn’t have to go through yours. I handled my pain with some bad things in my life. I struggled with drug addiction until 3 years. Been sober since but it’s been a hard journey. With my past, pain and my mental illness it was better to numb out. But my liver got chirrosis and cancer so helped me wake up but at first I was even more self destructive. Interesting books is such a better way. I loved reading as a kid but I battle mild dyslexia. I wish I used crazy books to cope. Didn’t Stepgen King battle drug addiction as well?
Oh Blimey Dani! I guess we both have horrific pasts.😞 But kudos to you for pulling yourself out. Alcoholism runs in both sides of my family which has always made me leery of having more than the occasional drink. And of course the migraines gave me an added incentive to stay away. From what I know, Stephen King became an alcoholic when he was younger, but had stopped drinking. But then when that driver hit him in 1999, and shattered his pelvis among other things, he became addicted to pain killers. For awhile he didn’t think he’d be able to write again. It was horrible.😖
It’s a way to cope not a healthy one but a way to cope indeed. I thought he used cocaine and other substances unfortunatley we all have our vices! I battled pain killer addiction. I was originally prescribed for the physical pain suffer and after continued use it got out of hand. I was so use to masking the physical pain. So used multiple other substances eventually and anything I could get my hands on. One day at a time! October 16th will be 3 years!🎉🎊😍 After 3 years there still not a day I dont wish I could go back to it and not endure the pain but the withdrawals and for my kids its never worth it to go back to what I was!
