I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review. I appreciate this opportunity.
“Opening this book is like arming a bomb–the suspense is relentless and the payoff is spectacular. Lead character Alice Vega is sensational–I want to see lots more of her.”–Lee Child, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Jack Reacher series
As addictive, cinematic, and binge-worthy a narrative as The Wire and The Killing, Two Girls Down introduces Louisa Luna as a thriller writer of immense talent and verve.
When two young sisters disappear from a strip mall parking lot in a small Pennsylvania town, their devastated mother hires an enigmatic bounty hunter, Alice Vega, to help find the girls. Immediately shut out by a local police department already stretched thin by budget cuts and the growing OxyContin and meth epidemic, Vega enlists the help of a disgraced former cop, Max Caplan. Cap is a man trying to put the scandal of his past behind him and move on, but Vega needs his help to find the girls, and she will not be denied. With little to go on, Vega and Cap will go to extraordinary lengths to untangle a dangerous web of lies, false leads, and complex relationships to find the girls before time runs out, and they are gone forever.
Review: I give this book 3 out of 5 Suspenseful Stars! I liked this book and it was a great read but the only problem was that it triggered me. I was triggered because of certain events that happened in my rough past but I know this can happen with some thrillers and it’s not the book’s fault. The book was very suspenseful and had a very surprising ending that was very unexpected. I am sure that a lot of people would thoroughly enjoy this book but for me it was hard to enjoy it at times because of the triggers. This book was well written and would recommend to readers who love a chilling suspense.
Sorry it bothered you Dani!

Hmm, even though the premise for this one sounds really amazing, I’m sorry the book got to you so much. Some subjects just can hit too close to home at times, especially if they relate to something really personal or to something that happened in real life. I hope you are all right, but I still really loved your review, and did I mention that I just love this new layout of yours ๐๐

Hmm…I have had that happen to me on occasion when I watch a particular movie. It can sometimes really happen unexpectedly. I just hope you will be okay, and you are just as great a friend Dani: never forget that ๐

Despite the unfortunate triggers, this sounds like a cracking plot, and one that has ‘film adaptation’ all over it.
Much more my thing, than a ‘cozy mystery’.
Best wishes, Pete.
