  1. I am reading Venturess by Betsy Cornwell.

Happily ever after is just the beginning.

Nicolette’s Cinderella story is over, and she’s finally living her own fairy tale happy ending. She’s a successful inventor now, free of her horrible stepfamily, and content in her loving friendship with Caro, a palace servant, and Fin, the prince of Esting.

Then she receives a message from her long-lost housekeeper, now a revolutionary, begging her to bring the prince to Faerie for a diplomatic meeting. Nicolette fears a trap, but decides that the chance to end the bloody war waged by their kingdom is worth the risk.

Together with Fin and Caro, she ventures across the monster-filled ocean to the lush continent she’s always dreamed of visiting. There, mechanical armies and dark magic await as they uncover devastating secrets about the past and fight for a real, lasting happily-ever-after for two troubled countriesβ€”and themselves.

  2. I have read Tara Conklin’s book about slavery and art, from three perspectives. “The House Girl” has a story of reparations, the little girl who was taught to read and paint. When a slave owner, the Mistress of the house claims wrongfully to have painted a picture, a new young female lawyer chases down the past. I read six books this summer and wrote up blog reviews. . . My favorites were Carol Balawyder’s book, “Getting to Mr Right” and Shehanne Moore’s “Unraveling of Lady Fury.” 😊

      1. You’re welcome, Dani. The two I listed have blogs under their names, Carol Balawyder and Shehanne Moore. S.M. is very nice and comments often! She wrote historical romances which are naughty and fun.

  12. Her Last Secret by Barbara Copperthwaite, which has on the cover ‘a gripping psychological thriller that you won’t be able to put down.’ @ 38% I would expect to be gripped by now. I ‘m not. I find it easy to put down and hard to pick up again. 😧
