Sometimes the skeletons in the closet are real.

Greenville, South Carolina, 1972.

Penelope Drake knows the ghosts and demons lurking in her hometown arenโ€™t just figurative. After all, her fatherโ€™s spirit haunts the office of the detective agency she inherited from him.

When Ephraim Brown, an old friend of her father, asks Penelope to investigate a break-in at his home, sheโ€™s hesitant. Breaking and entering is normally something sheโ€™d leave for the police, but with no other prospects in sight, she reluctantly agrees. The simple burglary, however, turns out to be just the beginning, as the brutal supernatural attack that follows makes it clear someone is using dark magic to try to destroy Ephraim Brown and his family.

Itโ€™s up to Penelope, along with her cagey assistant Zed and her friend Charlesโ€”who happens to know a bit of magic himselfโ€”to bring this scheme of revenge and murder to a halt before itโ€™s too late. Because if they donโ€™t, Penelope gets the distinct feeling the Brown family wonโ€™t be the hidden foeโ€™s last target.

What a fun supernatural & suspenseful tale! While reading this novel, I was captivated by the plot and the characters. Penelope has her issues but she is relatable. The world building was well thought out and I absolutely loved the setting of Greenville, South Carolina. South Carolinian here, y’all! The cover is not impressive but for the most part this is a great novel that I would recommend to YA Supernatural Readers!

As the Jack-of-All-Wicked-Trades for a secretive French military intelligence agency, Kingsley Boissonneault has done it allโ€”spied, lied, and killed under orders. But his latest assignment is quite out of the ordinary. His commanding officer’s nephew has disappeared inside a sex cult, and Kingsley has been tasked with bringing him home to safety.

The cultโ€™s holy book is Story of O, the infamous French novel of extreme sado-masochism. Their chรขteau is a looking-glass world where women reign and men are their willing slaves. Or are they willing? Itโ€™s Kingsleyโ€™s mission to find out.

Once inside the chรขteau, however, Kingsley quickly falls under the erotic spell cast by the enigmatic Madame, a woman of wisdom, power, and beauty. She offers Kingsley the one thing heโ€™s always wanted. But the price? Giving up forever the only person heโ€™s ever loved.

Wowza! What a Steamy One!

My Kindle was sizzling after reading this erotica! Wowza! I have read books by the author in the past and knew she wrote books high on the heat index but this one blew me away. There were so many different & interesting aspects the plot, even a sex cult?! Woah! But I have to admit this one made the panties a little damp!

A young London socialite is brutally murdered by a notorious serial killer in this “compelling” page-turner of dark secrets and deadly investigations (NYTbestselling author Jeffrey Deaver).

Her eyes are wide open. Her lips parted as if to speak. Her dead body frozen in the ice . . . she is not the only one.

When a young boy discovers the body of a woman beneath a thick sheet of ice in a South London park’s pond, Detective Erika Foster is called in to lead the murder investigation. The victim appeared to have the perfect life — what dark secrets is the girl in the ice hiding?

When Erika begins to dig deeper, she starts to connect the dots between the murder and the killings of three prostitutes. All were found strangled, hands bound and dumped in water around London. As she inches closer to uncovering the truth, the killer is closing in. With her failing career hanging by a thread, Erika must now battle her own personal demons as well as a killer more deadly than any she’s faced before. But will she get to him before he strikes again?

Damn! The Suspense!

Wow! What a grilling & enthralling thriller! This novel is the first in its series and I think it is perfect for the start of a suspenseful series that many will love! The plot of this novel will have you captivated and you will be on the edge of your seat wanting more. The characterization was well done and thought the background of the characters was explained well and the characters were relatable. The mystery of the story was surprising and I just loved the twists and turns! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great thriller!

Ooh, you’re getting close to home with this one, Dani. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m not far from Greenville. Please, no scary ghouls or goblins or other critters from the “other side” allowed west of Greenville. Enjoyed the review–keep on keeping on! ๐Ÿ™‚
